Let’s Play: King of New York
September 25, 2017 by thisisazrael
Az as Dinosaur Sheriff, John as Kommunist / Disco Kong and Justin as Mecha Dragon battle it out, wrecking buildings and decimating the armed forces, as they fight to see who'll become the King of New York!
In this gorgeous dice rolling monster mash, each of them will evolve, upgrade, demolish and attack to either take out all the other players or be the first to reach 20 victory points.
We also get the chance to become a Superstar or the protector of New York by turning the army against the monsters, and partnering up with a nun-chuck wielding Statue of Liberty!
Who do you think the biggest, baddest monster of all time is?
Designer: Richard Garfield
Publisher: IELLO

We would like to make clear to Universal, Time Warner, the Cooper Estate, and whoever the heck else owns a share in the character, that despite what Az says, John was playing a monster that resembles but is legally distinct from ‘King Kong’. Please send any c&d’s by PM to @thisisazrael….
:p
IMHO King of Tokyo and King of New York should be played with the Power Up! Expansions for a much better game. IMHO, Power Up! should be included in the box.
You are right the Power Up! makes the game much better.
I like King of Tokyo, I haven’t played King of New York yet but it looks good.
Cool. I picked up a copy a week ago but haven’t had the chance to play it yet.
Absolutely love these lets plays, shows the game well and you pretty much understand the rules after one watch through. This looks like a great fun game and certainly one I will be picking up to play with my kids.
Looking forward to the next one. Keep up the great work,
Thanks Martin, plenty more to come!
Great game, i will definitely be picking up a copy plus Power Up asap.
Flat Iron Building?
Great lets play, thanks guys.
It’s a great game.
Keep the board game Let’s Play coming.
I absolutely love these Lets Play! Such a great introduction to games I didn’t even knew I needed.in my life. But now I know 😀
Well, i have a copy of KoNY and Power Up winging its way to me 😀 . Hopefully it will get here in a day or so and i can take it straight to my flgc on Saturday.
Loving all the comments everyone 🙂 The feedback always means a lot, as does hearing that more board games are being picked up (my inner child loves that the most :P)
Definitely agree that Power Up adds a ton to the game but generally, I like to show base games off on our shows to avoid any barriers to entry or confusion for viewers. I hope this doesn’t detract from the videos but we always think about the game as a whole, expansions included, when making a decision about what to film 🙂 Az
Certainly doesn’t take anything away from watching a “Let’s Play ” for me. Using the Core box of a game is definitely the best way to show it off, another one can always be filmed with expansions included at a later date.
I have King of Tokyo. I don’t get to play it much because it really should be played with at least three people and the other gamers I game with all want to play with 15mm tanks and black powder infantry…Damn Grognards! This looks like a fun update/expansion.
I’ve had KoNY for a while now. It’s a big favourite with the kids (ages 10 and 6) and plays fairly quickly but also works well with older players.
