Osprey Games Announce Sankoré: The Pride Of Mansa Musa
March 22, 2023 by brennon
Osprey Games has announced their newest board game from designers, Fabio Lopiano & Mandela Fernandez-Grandon. Following on from Merv: The Heart Of The Silk Road, Sankoré: The Pride Of Mansa Musa is a mid-weight Eurogame featuring more amazing illustrations and artwork from Ian O'Toole.
Sankoré: The Pride Of Mansa Musa // Osprey Games
Sankoré is for one-to-four players and charts the rise of the university of the same name in 14th Century Timbuktu. You will manage one of the prestigious schools which has been tasked with spreading knowledge around West Africa.
You will be looking to enrol and graduate your pupils, teach classes, fill your library with books and manage four disciplines. Once your university is finished, you'll see what place in the empire you have and if you've been able to please Mansa Musa.
More details are going to be coming out about Sankoré later this year but it's neat that we're seeing the slightly heavier board games getting introduced into the mix by Osprey. From what we've heard so far, it's deep and complex and with a nice mesh of both theme and mechanics.
I am also intrigued to see what the solo mode is like for the game. It has you competing against one distinguished scholar as part of an automated system. It's always good to know that if you've got a solo mode, it has been baked into the design from the start.
Watch out for more from Osprey Games and Sankoré in the near future!
