Osprey Games Reveal Martin Wallace’s Wildlands Project
February 15, 2018 by brennon
Osprey Games have announced that they're going to be working alongside Martin Wallace for a new miniatures board game, Wildlands.
This game plays with between two to four players as you take control of rival factions struggling for power in a once-great kingdom. You will be embroiled in skirmishes where you will score points for defeating enemy characters and collecting treasures.
You will have to learn to be adaptable as each of the skirmishes takes place on double-sided boards/tiles and features random set-up rules too meaning that even though you might have mastered one tactic, you'll need more in your back pocket for each engagement.
Twenty unique miniatures will also be included within the game sculpted by Bobby Jackson and Tim Prow. Here's one of them...
“I’ve been designing games for a few years now and sometimes you wonder if you are just revisiting old designs and themes”, said award-winning designer Martin Wallace. “Wildlands was an opportunity for me to do something off the beaten track: a fast-moving, tactical combat game with asymmetric special powers.
I was very pleased when the design found a home with Osprey Games, who have done an amazing job of developing and refining the system, as well as applying an engaging thematic background. They did fantastic work with London, so I’m expecting this to be simply awesome when it finally hits the shelves."
The game seems focused on being simple enough to pick up and play with a card driven system for your character's powers and abilities on the tabletop.
We're looking forward to hearing more about this one!
