The story mode is one part of playing Oathsworn Into The Deepwood in which you can follow along with the narrated App or with the hardback paper novel, gather your resources and meet the townsfolk by exploring the city and collecting quests along the way. You might come across some children looking for aid or some bandits ready claiming ransom.

Which kind of player are you; are you the strong logical thinker or the murderhobo bent on personal revenge?

I wasn’t sure about the locked responses like a video game, but it doesn’t seem like you are on a binary yes no track but have multiple options which is very cool. And the city starts to feel alive the more you guys explored which is exactly what I dig.
Seems very cool. I still have a lot of Gloomhaven to play but this could be something to dive in afterwards. Like the storytelling and the grim world they have created. Looking forward to the combat.
The narration gets old very quickly
I think the problem was that the text entries were too long. I think the designers should take a look at ‘Mansions of Madness’ to gauge what is or is not the right amount of txt after the intro. Also, not sure about cards and dice; go with one or the other would be my advice. The choice seemed odd,IMHO.
After watching the whole video and reading the text a few times, I can only conclude that the heroes did not definitively find who/what was responsible for the crime they are summoned to solve, and ended the story facing off against an unrelated threat.
Did anyone else get this impression? Hard to go into detail w/o typing spoilers here.
I did enjoy the consistency of the grim tone, and I found the unique “deepwood” premise interesting. However, I found very little original or engaging about the very familiar “fantasy city” where most of the story took place.
Ooh looks a good fun game.
Thanks for doing this. I was curious how the story mode played out and it’s nice to see the game in action. I really enjoy both Gloomhaven and Middara for different reasons and this looks like it would be a nice third game to cycle into that rotation.
Can I persuade one of my friends to buy this? the app seems to be a must.
I’d be interested to see how further expansions will be added to the main story…
