November 1, 2021 by brennon
Mythic Games are back with another awesome trailer ahead of the launch of their newest Kickstarter. The Monsterpocalypse Board Game arrives on 2nd November and will introduce loads more people to the monster-smashing mayhem of Privateer Press' miniatures game.
Monsterpocalypse Board Game // Official Trailer
The trailer is full of the animated battling goodness that we've come to love from the folks at Mythic Games and it perfectly represents the kind of action you'll be playing out on the tabletop. If that hasn't got you hyped for the campaign then I don't know what will!
Monsterpocalypse On Kickstarter // Mythic Games & Privateer Press
To give you a brief overview of the project, Mythic Games is putting together a board game version of the miniatures game by Privateer Press. You'll find everything you need to play in one place including pre-assembled miniatures (as opposed to kits from the miniatures game), fully detailed buildings, support units and upgraded and revamped components.
This version of Monsterpocalypse is entirely compatible with the existing edition of the game from 2018 and there will be options for newcomers and veterans alike as part of the Kickstarter project. One of the fun options for longtime players is the addition of the Battle Royale box which takes things to three and four-player and introduces ways for you to fight cooperatively too.
Make sure to watch out for the Kickstarter tomorrow and our interview with Leo!

That would be great if that was the way the game played.
This might be a bit to tempting. I’ve been eye-ing the game for years and if mythic offers the deal they normally do, this might actually be a good way to get into it.
Would mean my 3d printer needs to wait a bit.
It seems like it could be a lot of fun, especially with the quality of life additions they’ve made to the boxed game.
Although it is tempting as a retro flashback to arcade games like rampage, I have doubts about the price.
Mythic games tend to be very expensive lately because of the plastic and a big concern is the rip off prices for shipping in the covid era. Games tend to cost almost as much to ship as they do to buy.
Given that this is a Privateer Press gamne, it may go to retail which will be a much better price and likely free shipping.
Blurb said shipping will be about $30+ to the USA.
Yeah, I’d sure like to know Mythic / PP’s retail model for MonPoc. Metal’s too expensive for me, and seems like a decent model to release MonPoc core as a boardgame, with metal miniatures released for continued support for he game. OTOH, If Mythic / PP decide retail is too expensive, their model may be to only use KS to hopefully get more customers into the metal. :/
And this could and should be cardboard standees which would make the game cheaper, just as much fun, and more accessible. So sick of pointless bling in board games these days just to feed profits for companies that us KS as a hype train.
I do like the look of this game but I have my reservations. Largely surrounded around I don’t quite understand WHAT this campaign is actually doing to the existing game besides making money.
Even in that video I didnt really see anything that doesnt already exist (unless Im wrong?!)
> Largely surrounded around I don’t quite understand WHAT this campaign is actually doing to the existing game besides making money. Just a different business model, namely a boardgame format, rather than individually purchased metal figures. The KS plastics are much less expensive than the current metal miniatures, so lowers the cost to start playing the game, thus hopefully increasing the customer base and the popularity of the game. So, sure, money. :$ > Even in that video I didnt really see anything that doesnt already exist (unless Im wrong?!) You’re probably right. I think the objective is to gain… Read more »
