Mythic Games Give First Prototype Look At Solomon Kane
April 20, 2018 by brennon
Mythic Games are closing in on the release date for Solomon Kane on Kickstarter and with that, they wanted to share a prototype look at the game and it's components to give you an idea of how it will all look on the tabletop.
The game has you all playing as Solomon Kane taking on the virtues of Courage, Prudence, Temperance, and Justice and then working out how best to collectively use them to defeat the creatures of darkness that threaten our world.
The Darkness itself is controlled by an AI deck which has you guessing each time you sit down to play as it works out ways to defeat you. You won't always just be playing Solomon Kane however as he will often be joined by allies who are there to help him in his efforts, adding another layer of narrative and tactics to the game.
With a Kickstarter coming in June the team at Mythic Games are looking for gamers to come along and experience the game at small events, gaming stores and more with their Ambassadors. You'll be able to play the game at locations throughout France, the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands.
You can see where the Ambassadors are by checking out this map HERE. Also, if you email [email protected] directly you can put forward your name to become a UK Ambassador as they are still looking for more over here in Blighty.
Will you be checking this out on Kickstarter?

every bit as impressive as we suspected it would be.
Board looks a lot like Conan and/or Mythic Battles: Pantheon…
I miss originality…
Considering they were involved with both of those projects and the mechanics worked well for those, why step away from a good thing – also, we don’t know how the gameplay properly works yet, but it makes one hell of a difference from hexes and square-based movement.
With far too many games already, and some of those clunky and hard work, having repeated systems and map layouts is very welcome. I’m too old to keep re-learning rules.
So as this has an I.A. Does this mean it can be soloed? I think the Orginal announcement said 2+ players. My one big complaint with Conan is the fact of no solo play but I get it as it wouldn’t be the same gane.
Keep and eye on our Kickstarter campaign when it launches good sir 🙂
Looks good an the figures look brilliant as well.
I like what I see. Well done Mythic. Already saving my pennies after splurging on Batman. Hopefully this one will be a bit more limited in scope than their last two efforts. I could do with a boardgame project that is affordable and paintable in less than 6 months!
It does look intriguing, but I have to admit that between Conan, Mythic Battles, Core Space, etc. my bandwidth for games of this type is running out. If it’s a modestly priced box I’ll probably be more interested, but if it’s another multi-expansion game with hundreds of miniatures I don’t think I can do it.
If they, or Monolith, would have just stuck with Mythic Battles Ragnarok then I’d be in 200%. As it is though, I’m thoroughly enjoying MBP and have no desire or need for Batman or JoA or this.
Sorry, the cover art of the box reminded me of the Wicked Witch of the West, not a guy in a Puritan hat.
I’ll get you, my pretties and your little dog, too.
Potential stretch goal ideas! Legend! :p
I’m planning to back it. It’s got a strong Mordheim vibe, and the new style to the minis is really impressive.
Lovely mini’s, gameboards and character boards…Check 😀 The one thing that stops me from giving the game a thumbs up though is the whole ” play as aspects of Solomon ” thing. I’m just a simple gamer who would much rather get his friends around the table to control Kane and his party of allies in the fight against the devil and the darkness. That’s not to say i’m against innovation in games, just that this particular one doesn’t float my gaming boat. My wallet will thank me in the long run however, because we ( it ) needs to… Read more »
Well, don’t make a conclusion based just on a few pictures. Review the rulebook, watch the video, whatever gets you to learn the actual mechanics. Hopefully, Mythic will release various previews of the mechanics. I’d like to know more, myself!
wait … testing options in the Netherlands and Belgium ?
That’s real ?
I wonder if it’s the fine herbs that convinced them to try some testing here 😉
Probably 😉 😀 .
Hey there Limburger, actually they are going all out with the promotion of this game. They set up an ambassador program, who they send the prototype to give local demo’s. Since I liked their previous games, and the idea of demoing games, I applied. So once the prototype arrives I’ll be traveling around the Netherlands to demo this game. If you are interested, or know some good spots for demo’s, send me a PM 🙂
