Mythic Games Reveal Bergunn For Hel: The Last Saga
April 22, 2020 by brennon
Mythic Games has begun their previews for Hel: The Last Saga which we looked at a little bit a few weeks ago when more information started dropping. Well, this week we got a look at one of the first characters you'll meet in the game, Bergunn The Shieldmaiden.
Bergunn joins the crew of King Haakon as they head off on their ill-fated adventure with a wild look in her eyes and strength in her twisted muscles. Known as "Fire Bear" to others, she is a ruthless warrior who has proven herself many times over and it would be a foolish man who tries to cross her. She is also referred too as the she-bear and you can see that come across in the miniature for her.
She comes armed with all manner of weapons which she can use to hack you apart and bear fur draped round her. You'll also notice she has a "friend" with her too, a bear companion who no doubt fiercely protects her when she needs someone to watch her back. Either that or she can simply unleash it on her foes.
It will come and no surprise to anyone following along with these previews from Mythic Games that the sculpting quality of the miniatures is top-notch. I think they've managed to prove themselves on that front now. Hopefully, there aren't too many miniatures in this game so that you can put a lot of time and effort into working on the main characters.
If you're looking for a brutal and daunting Viking-themed adventure on the tabletop then Hel: The Last Saga is shaping up very nicely indeed. Make sure to check out their "secret" Facebook Group where they are discussing more about the game with the community too.
What do you think of Bergunn?

Well, this looks really awesome
Nice mini, I really like the little bear.
That’s pretty nice
No wonder the pet bear looks so unhappy when she is wearing a dead bear as a cape.
Why is the cape billowing in the wind and not her hair?
The leg looks odd. Maybe she took an arrow to the knee in the past?
Seems a little under dressed for such cold weather.
That Bear looks A Little Disturbed Knowing that There is another Bear On Bergunns Shoulder Lol
Mythic sure has adopted the CMON concept. Miniatures first game play and rules second and then release errata 6 months later. Their last two KS have pissed me off to no end.
Which of the many of their Kickstarters where that? Reichbusters and Time of Legends?
Time of Legends has a 1.5 (if it gets past the legal snafu) which is amazing for a game that was apparently playtested to death if you believe what they said every week during the KS campaign.
Miniatures first, rules second… with errata months later.
Where have I heard that before.
Oh yeah, hasn’t that been Games Workshops practice for nearly two decades?
Even I have to admit it seems to have been very successful for them.
So a very sound business plan to me.
Mythic are a company I wouldn’t give money to on principle.
There are very very few rules that are perfect at their initial release …
The ones that do tend to be based on existing systems (making them effectively an update).
Never underestimate the game wrecking ability of players in real world scenarios.
A Great looking Shieldmaiden/Queen.
Rather underdressed for the climate. No wonder the little bear looks worried.
isn’t the bear a bit small?
i like it. she looks lie warrior not like unfeed person that cant hold sword straight.
