Anastyr is a cooperative board game for one-to-four players. It focuses on classic sword & sorcery ideas where your band of heroes, the Champions Of The Spear, have been tasked with finding the fragments of the Amber World Spear. Used at one time to defeat the Chaos Dragon King, it is now going to be used to stop Anastyr from enacting her terrible plans.

Ooh stunning looking figures for a brilliant looking game.
If you back this, I hope you are a person of patience, as Mythic’s recent track record with delivering product on time is abysmal. Darkest Dungeon was promoted as delivering 12/2020, and “Wave 1” has yet to ship. Hel was promoted as delivering 6/2021 and has yet to even go to production. Fair warning.
As someone who backed Darkest Dungeon we recently got told that factory is stuggling with the demand to produce it due to the on going global supply and people off sick with you know what. They are splitting the release in two waves the first will be June 2022 almost a year late. But get this wave 2 they dont even have an agreed date for it. Nobody is sure when the rest will arrive and all the boxes if non english languages which are in wave 2. Now I fully understand the issues because it has been a very… Read more »
I’ve been following news on the lockdown in China. Disruptions in the supply chain, increased shipping costs, and other increased risks. Blacklist Games was hit with shipping costs that caused them to (almost?) run out of money to ship miniatures. Reaper posted this last month from their China plastics manufacturer. “I trust you are all doing well, but the situation in China is getting worse due to the Omicron pandemic. In Dongguan, where over 50% of the world’s toys are produced and our factory is situated has been locked today to March 21, 2022. No production nor logistic activities are… Read more »
And the ‘meh’ reports on the actual game play of most of their games so far. Mythic generate hype through lots of plastic. I suspect most folks never even bother to play the games when they eventually arrive.
So what is your point? You make it sound like the only reason to buy a boardgame is for the gameplay. You do understand that in this hobby people defend one company selling 15 plastic game models for more then the going price of the basic pledge for this kickstarter, right. Its okay to spend that much when its for those models, but somehow not okay if its another company? I mean in a reality where the “greatest” company in the world (for some) sells one box of models that doesnt even come with a rules system or any game… Read more »
Nice trailer… maybe they should move into computer games ? As for the madness of the world still.. I paid for Vat and shipping last week on Monster Apoc… nearly half again on the pledge its self.. not sure if I ever play the game, but you never know Last one I did with vat and shipping as one was Hel the last saga, which Im looking forward to knowing more when they show it off... But anything with "made in China" on the box will be keeping me away from Kickstarters for the rest of the year at the… Read more »
Valid points.
However, you do understand that this KS is only going to ship at the earliest June of next year? So even if its on time, which it wont be, China only comes in to play around March of next year. And that is the most likely the earliest, I would assume a 3 to 6 month delay as normal for all KSers.
A year is a long time now days, a lot is changing. Sure it could be worse, but it could just as easily be way better as well.
Not gonna jump onto this, as it doesn’t really scratches an itch I have. Looks nice enough.
But I do want to point out the magnetised riders/mounts is an extremely nice touch.
What exactly is unique about this or why as potential customers should we care? The experience seems fairly generic.
On the delivery side we are most likely entering a period where supply chain issues are going to get worse given the scale of Chinese lockdowns so any projects using manufacturers there are inevitably going to be delayed if not flounder on shipping or manufacturing costs. Not to be more up front about this is comes across poorly.
I’ve not backed anything outside the UK in a while and although it looks interesting, I’ve only put it on ‘Remind me’ to see how stretch goals unfold and see if it’s worth it by end of campaign (given the very high shipping costs.
I know china is cheap because of the slave labour and cheap ‘destroy the environment because global warming doesn’t exist’ policy in china…
But is’t it time to avoid the china delays (especially the chinese new year when the country closes) and the excessive costs of shipping by container.that companies started making stuff in their own country?
Classic Mythic Games – brilliant work on the miniatures, the gameplay probably leaves a bit to be desired however! I like the art on this, Paolo Parente is like a Frank Franzetta / Simon Bisley mash up! Also agreed with the way the world is around us and continues to go, Companies are going to have to start looking beyond China for their plastic and printing needs. Its just not sustainable anymore from a putting the price onto the consumer. GW can produce tonnes of plastic at home, so its not impossible – and yes I recognise their stuff isn’t… Read more »
