MERCS Miniatures’ Myth Kickstarter Has Launched!
March 25, 2013 by brennon
We teased the beginning of a new project for MERCS Miniatures last week but today the Myth Kickstarter has launched! Check out some fantastic artwork, miniatures and components below along with a gameplay video above!
"Myth is a cooperative game for 2 to 5 players developed and published by MERCS Miniatures (MegaCon Games). A complete game in Myth is called a Story. Each Story is played over three Acts. Acts can be played sequentially, or can be split up over three different game sessions. Each Act lasts 2 hours."
Each hero in Myth is a mighty warrior who must balance their power against the threat of darkness looming before them. Let's take a look at the heroes you will be playing as...
As you can see there are a lot of different heroes to choose from. I particularly like the hammer wielding Acolyte and the tattooed Apprentice! Each of these heroes is driven by a Hero Deck and uses card to preform actions and draw upon weapons of power.
Unlike other games that would require a Dungeon Master or someone at least taking on the role of the enemy, Myth has another card deck that controls what the enemy do.
Each time you play then you must work out just how zealously you are going to engage your enemies. If you go too powerful then the Darkness will react by unleashing more monsters. If you act too delicately then the game might limit the amount of treasure you are able to plunder.
A delicate balance and plenty of team talk seems to be the aim of the day.
It certainly looks like it could be a lot of fun with some fascinating miniatures, evocative and original looking artwork, and a massively packed core set!
Check out the video above and atop the Kickstarter page and see what you think of this new game from the creators of MERCS.
Who wants to play as the Brigand Rat?

I like the look of the miniatures. The game looks like a cross between Fable, SDE, with a little sprinkle of Zombiecide threat meter. All the cash I had put towards Thon will find a new home in this kickstarter.
Being a massive Fable addict the style of the game really is amazingly evocative. I love the artwork, the enemies and the quality of the components we’ve seen so far, at least as artwork. It looks to be nice and glossy in the ‘card’ too.
Really looking forwards to seeing more and more about this!

Evocative is right !
Yeah getting really tempt by this, want to see a bit more but looking very promising. Perfect summary, shame there is no dwarf hero 😉
Very fable-esque, tempt to go play it….
For $5k you could add a dwarf mini-boss 😉
You know, I’m actually excited about that one !
Looks really amazing but sadly the gameplay video is not very well done ( we can’t see the cards, rolls and is kinda amateur. I hope they redo that one and improve the next one.
For a $75 is a pretty amazing deal but i’ll try to get to $100. Hope they make some painted images of the miniatures and make some collaborations with other companies.
Well, so much for not doing more Kickstarters.
I’m a bit puzzled at goals like 10 extra orcs. Does this mean there aren’t enough in the basic game? Sets of minis for new enemies I can understand, it’s more why having 25 orcs – in the context of the game – is better than 15 (other than “because MOAR” :)).
This aside, I think this game really has potential. I’m very interested in making this my third Kickstarter.
Replying to myself, I’ve just gone in at $100
They have said there are enough in the base game but having more will allow players to create their own stories around pure Orc missions etc. 🙂
Good stuff. Cheers!
Looking good so far. I might get into this.
I may buy into this, not only for this but also cos the money raised will also help their MERCS line
Looking at the mechanics of this I suspect you could quite easily have an enjoyable Solo game. It’s certainly different to anything that I play.
They have said it is possible with a couple of small rule tweaks. Believe they’re going to have a downloadable doc with the necessary changes 🙂
I went in at $100 but I’m hoping they do some addons soon. Day one of a Kickstarter is never the whole story! Maybe if I tack on some more money they can get some HD cameras for their videos…
that trickster hero stretch goal looks awfully like a yellow jack who fell through some sort of portal….
So excited for this. Heard about it on the Weekender and had to go looking for it. Does not appear to disappoint.
My eye is firmly fixed onto this one! love the equipment posibilities. Would like to see a bit more area to add even more stuff, but perhaps it would ruin the pace of the game and is better with the slots currently available. 🙂
This game seems like a cross between Gauntlet and Heroquest with a splash of Lord of the Rings LCG (the darkness deck is what reminds me of that spectacular FFG card game). I am Uber excited about this game and am tossing around the idea of going in at $300 or $600. I wish that the pay offs for those particular levels were a little more varied but we’ll see. I’ll most likely end up just go in for $150 as that more within my budget. Those metal Heroes are tempting though… The amount of flexibility and expansion that could… Read more »

Come on stretch goals!!!
The game looks awesome! I might get the $100 to get the stretch goals.
Went in at the $100 dollar mark. Would like to have gone in a bit higher at the $300 but my budget is what it is.
Game looks fantastic at the moment and I am a real fan of cooperative games – I think it conjures up a great spirit around the gaming table when everyone is pulling in the same direction.
New stretch goals are posted:
175k – Alternate Gender Heroes
(200k – trickster already existed)
225k – 10 Elemental Minions and 2 Captains
250k – 1 skeleton boss with 10 card deck
275k – 1 of each sculpted lairs and traps
And we’ve hit $100,000 and beyond! More backers!!!
