Men In Black Meet Ghostbusters In New Crossover Game
November 2, 2018 by cassn
Sometimes one paranormal team just isn't enough, and for those moments where you're overrun with spectral visitors from another planet, you want the best banishing teams around. Lucky for you, IDW and Sony Pictures Consumer Products have combined forces to create Men In Black/Ghostbusters: Ecto-terrestrial Invasion.
This miniature-packed game is announced for 2019 publication alongside the release of the new Men In Black movie and the 35th anniversary of the Ghostbusters film. In Men In Black/Ghostbusters: Ecto-terrestrial Invasion players will work as one of the two teams to fight off an Ecto-terrestrial invasion (not without some friendly competition, of course!). The game will feature a combination of dice-rolling and card play.
Ninja Division (Super Dungeon Explore) will be in control of producing the miniatures. Miniatures will include Peter Venkman, Egon Spangler, Ray Stanz, Winston Zeddmore, and Agent J, Agent K, Agent L and Zed.
Jerry Bennington, VP of New Product Development at IDW Publishing states:
We are excited to bring these two iconic properties together along with an amazing group of development partners. We love the fun story we are telling with this game and hope fans will bring it to the tabletop again and again.
There isn't much else known at this stage about the game but the box art looks interesting. Men In Black/Ghostbusters: Ecto-terrestrial Invasion has the potential to be an incredibly cool board game but, as with all IP products, just as much potential to go horribly wrong. We wait with bated breath.

I like both franchises, but then I saw ninja division and I realise I saved some money.
Don’t like chibi (or chubby kids as I see it).
And they are associated with Soda Pox Miniatures who did Rail Raiders Infinite which was a really badly handled ks and I had to beat a refund out of creators. Last I checked they were still shipping two years late with stuff missing from pledges… so glad I got my money back.
So basically I don’t trust them to deliver goods.
RRI delivered and completely done.
SPM do have some other games that are late on Kickstarter right now- most notably Super Dungeon Legends (the latest of the bunch) and that’s the reason some folks are avoiding them.
To be honest, I’m surprised that you backed RRI in the first place, since the chibi minis are really the biggest thing the game has going for it.
It was Boba Fest that got me in a moment of weakness.
But the countless delays and their piss poor excuses irritated me.
I was interested in Starfinder miniatures, but their name was enough to put me off.
This looks a good fun game.
Ninja Division… hard pass.
Will never purchase another product associated with that company.
Ninja Divisionstill owes me over $300 worth of KS rewards, hard pass.
I have to agree with the group. Still waiting on my Super Dungeon Explore Kickstarter many years later. I was excited to read this until I read it was being done by Ninja Division. So I might be interested if I see it at my FLGS, but won’t ever Kickstart anything from them again.
Good thing IDW doesn’t do Kickstarters then, right?
And Ninja Division have sworn off of KS, so they won’t be doing their own at any rate.
I agree with the others, Soda pop owes me over 300$ or my game. I won’t kickstart for them again. They were wise to ommit their logo on the banner.
Looks interesting, though I hope it wont be on KS after all the things people wrote here about Ninja Division.
And I like Ghostbusters more.
I believe that IDW are owned by Asmodee. They most likely won’t do Kickstarter.
I was stoked to see this was being published by IDW and not Cryptozoic. That hope was squashed by the inclusion of Ninja Miniatures doing the miniatures. I cannot in good conscious support any company that has blantantly taken millions of dollars from thousands of gamers without delivering on their promises or giving a simple explanation as to what went wrong.
Love the Ghostbusters and I like IDW games. Machi Koro is the only game that my wife loves playing. So, I wanted to know more… and then found out that Ninja Division is involved… shame, that means this game will be a hard pass for me. Ninja Division owes me more than 300 USD and they even stopped communicating/caring about us backers in Super Dungeon Explore. Legends.
Either IDW games did not do their homework or they don’t care that Ninja Division has been neglecting their backers for months. Either is pretty bad.
IDW is probably just getting some miniature designs from Ninja Division (who make good minis, let’s be fair).
And since the game won’t be going to Kickstarter, they probably figured it wouldn’t make so much of a difference (and they’re probably right).
Another pass, I’m still waiting for a refund from the RK 2ed. KS, which I will most likely never see. And after their involvement with Robotech I decided to not buy any of their products ever again.
To be fair, Palladium had all sorts of problems like that before they did the Robotech RPG Tactics KS, and they had all sorts of problems after NJ fulfilled their obligations to them and cut strings.
I think it is much more reasonable to blame NJ for the extremely late Super Dungeon Legends Kickstarter instead of the Robotech one.
Also, all indications point to a normal retail release for this game (not a Kickstarter). I don’t know if that makes a difference to you, but it makes a difference to me.
Wait- Panda Cult aren’t the ones doing the minis for this? I figured that was their involvement.
I need to find confirmation of Ninja Division’s involvement on this project, because I haven’t seen that part of the news anywhere else.
Also, I don’t think I’ve seen any indication that this will be a Kickstarted game.

Too bad this is being handled by Ninja Division. Just means the game will literally never be made. A great game ruined by choosing the most incompetent fulfillment company in the history of board games. 🙁
