Matagot Embrace The Seasons In New Inis Expansion
May 28, 2019 by brennon
Inis is a game all about clashing clans rooting with Celtic history and myth where each player is looking to be crowned the king of the new island they've discovered. Expanding on this Matagot has now released a new expansion for the game too!
Seasons Of Inis builds upon the game with new gameplay dictated by the seasons wheel. This will change up the kind of actions you can do in the game, either benefitting or hindering you depending on the whims of the weather. You'll also find new islands to discover and options for increasing the game up to five players.
Whilst the game has a focus on getting your 'dudes on a map' it's not always about battle in Inis. You can win in a couple of different ways, either through having the most people on the table, controlling the most territories, or instead dominating by controlling the most sanctuaries.
Yes, you will be doing some fighting, but you'll also be focusing in on a bit of table talk too which I always like. If you'd like a nice in-depth review of Inis there's a very good one by Shut Up & Sit Down which you should watch.
And yes, the artwork for the game is from the absolutely awesome Jim FitzPatrick.
Do you think this could be for you?

Inis has been on my wish list for a while. I wonder if I can wangle it for Father’s day in a couple of weeks?
love the game pieces.
Ah, back before SU&SD became completely insufferable… happier times.
This is the same name in Irish as the town I am from. Food for thought. When I get a chance to listen to the video I’m wondering if they pronounce it right.
I love the humour at the start of the review (can’t wait to watch it later when I finish work), and with the English accent he kind of pronounces it right: he says the English spoken language of the name correctly* 🙂
*Ennis, as opposed to Inis (Inn-ish) 🙂
This will be fun to pick up purely from the artwork and style!
