With the Tomb Maiden miniature from the old IKRPG as a starting point for what a Cyriss-themed miniature might have looked like, I’m really liking what they have done here. I guess we can’t consider those Cyriss-worshipers as “mostly harmless” anymore!
Really like the idea of the HighCommand card game. Hope it is not a collectable card game though as I hate the idea of pumping obscene amounts of money into cards like Magic the Gathering, only to have them go out of date a couple of years later. Don’t get me wrong, love the games, but I tended to win a lot of games due to how many boxes of cards that I bought. I felt a bit cheated tbh as I was winning but had no idea how to play as much as those that I had beat….. Hope… Read more »
I don’t believe High Command will be collectable. They stated in the keynote Q&A there will be a base set fixed release for warmachine and hordes armies and no packs. At this point it sounds like the game will be standalone like the bodgers games, rather than a lcg or ccg. I’m sure we will get clarifications soon.
I can understand the sentiment as regards CCGs. But I also think deck-building games are really limited when the card catalog never expands. I think the best compromise is the Living Card Game concept, where boosters are NOT random and you know exactly what you’re getting in every expansion. With Magic and other TCGs, you have to buy a ton of random boosters, end up with a bunch of duplicates of cards you’ll never use and still might not get the one or two cards you actually did want. The only other alternative is buy the cards separately at exorbitant… Read more »
some simply dont like predictability ^^ . For me a booster-box is like a big box of little presents, 36 times the thrill of the hunt, the excitement when you really get something rare or that you wanted. The feeling of an animal market when you start negotiations with your friends over swops. Having booster packs and not knowing exactly what is in it is really fun at times – and no its NOT just gambling, like you mentioned on another occassion, its really more the fun of discovering and opening it up flickering through. And you just have to… Read more »
@mpopke I would agree to play if it was presented in update packs, as I am sure PP will bring new models out and would have to naturally represent them in their card game. Could be fun fun fun or money money money…. I know what I prefer, hehe. Although the cost of the game COULD be large if they are representing armies, therefore, needing duplicates of troops and then all factions. Maybe a 2 faction starter set and then buy the other faction expansion box? Personally hoping for everything in one box with a health and safety warning on… Read more »
That new faction is nice and the jacks are the best looking ones from them. It’s as if the entire game has now been injected with sci-fi robots. I like the contrast of steam punk and terminator/transformers.
