Mantic Games Talk League Of Infamy With Sophie Williams
October 8, 2019 by brennon
Sophie Williams of Needy Cat Games has been chatting about Mantic Games' new game which features anti-heroes getting stuck into all sorts of villainous adventures in League Of Infamy.
The League Of Infamy features a band of sometimes-cooperative characters who are looking to delve into dungeons. You can see the offending characters above drawn from across the different factions within the realm of Pannithor where Kings Of War is set.
You can check out Sophie talking more about the game and its premise below...
This sounds like a fascinating game which twists things a little on its head. A dungeon crawler always catches my eye and tweaking it to feature some darker characters certainly makes things more fun, especially with the semi-cooperative nature of the game. Also, it can be played either as a Many Vs One game or All Vs AI if you fancy 'working together'.
Are you tempted by League Of Infamy and have you had the chance to give it a go?

That suspects line up is looking very Guardians of the Galaxy isn’t it?
That would be great, but I don’t think those guys are as much of a team.
True enough. Axe Faction did include a small pipe smoking badger with a very large weapon in their Siege Breakers set shortly before going out of business but that’s as close to a mechanically engineered oversized racoon miniature as you’re going to get at the moment.
Good term: ‘Cooperatish’.
when is it out?
kickstarter launching within the next month.
Thank you Buddy
I love Mantic, but it feels like they’ve been stringing people along with The League for so long that some of the interest has been lost. It’s basically Dungeon Saga where you play the bad guys, so nothing worth stringing out the hype for as long as they’ve done.
One could argue that there isn’t that much difference between ‘good’ and ‘bad’ guys doing a dungeon crawl. Both will murder every single creature within and grab every bit of loot they can find. Any moral dilemmas are inevitably solved by doing ‘whatever is most profitable to the player’, because there’s no way in heck that the average player is going to sacrifice an advantage just so they can have the title ‘most good/evil hero of the land’. Net result is that ‘good guys’ can be replaced with the ‘bad guys’ without any effort at all. Note : for a… Read more »
not really, if the good guys are murdering each other to get out on top then they are not really good guys are they?
Sounds like a darker grownup version to an Oliver twist world?
Interesting twist on a dungeon crawler, I’m very keen on seeing how they implement the AI.
@fightcitymayor: The game is based on very different system than Dungeon Saga actually. A new one made by the creators of the Hellboy game.
Yeah, although ostensibly a one vs many game, I think the mechanics will be quite different. Expect there to be a need for the team to complete the mission, but also real incentives to do what is best for the individual to claim the win. Looking forward to it, particularly exactly how the overlord player influences the play.
keen to see it myself, I got some insight from Matt and Rob this week past, the mechanics are interesting
Does anyone know if the rumours that Mantic are about to bin Star Saga are true?
How do you mean ‘bin it’? They haven’t announced any plans for further expansions but I imagine they’ll keep selling it as long as they have stock. I expect it will be available for a while yet but eventually they will run out and not make any more, just like Mars Attacks. Could be years before it is no longer available at all.
nighthaunter666, when I say bin it, I mean Mantic intend to discontinue the line and sell off the remaining stock due to it being unprofitable. I can’t believe I had to explain that.
They haven’t developed anything since the kickstarter and they are always selling the remaining stock, so what i meant was what you thought would change in the future that signified binning it?
I think they’ll produce more if they can sell them, or not if they have stock not moving. I think we’re unlikely to see further expansions due to limited interest. But if they can do something that works for deadzone and warpath and star saga, you might see it promoted for the game.
There was an “issue” with the minis for the expansions being “not up to standard they were expecting” (but they shipped them out to the backers anyway), and were going to change factory for future production (think it was the nameless). So the backers got worse minis than the retail customers. Mind you that’s all from the “comments” page on the KS itself (and we all know how accurate that can be at times). But Mantic seemed to not bother “pushing” or marketing Star Saga as much as they did with Dungeon Saga (it was noted that the minis didn’t… Read more »
