More Lost Patrol Board Game Details Pop Up From The Dice Tower
March 22, 2016 by brennon
In an interview from GAMA The Dice Tower got to talk to Games Workshop about Lost Patrol where Scouts have to escape from the clutches of Genestealers as they race through a jungle. You can view the interview at around 3h 7mins in on the video above...
The game follows the same overall theme of the original game where the Scouts have to fight their way through the different jungle tiles to get to their drop pod and escape. The twist is that the map changes based on their line of sight and it vanishes behind them as they rush onwards - meaning it could be very different when they turn around.
Here's a pretty terrible picture but it shows you that the box is going to contain sprues rather than single models BUT they are coloured plastics so they have the feel of board game components at the very least.
The game is going to be out in June 2016 and should retail around the $60 mark which is around £40. This is certainly the cheaper price point we were anticipating. Playing in around half an hour and having a lot of replay value in the way the tiles go down on the table I could see this being quite the fun project and purchase.

Chaps, I think GW are almost out of the 90s!
Yes its almost like they are aware of the information super highway, wonder if we will get some AOL and Compuserve cd’s included in every white dwarf now, maybe even a multimedia cd-rom…
Still think the most exciting about this is the NEW shrinkwrapped blood bowl box lurking like a genestealer behind the Lost Patrol box in the top photo, which has been moved for the second photo….
Unfortunately there’s nothing in there yet as I gather from the interview with The Dice Tower – just a showing of what it will look like when the box is done heh.
heh im just a bit excited by prospect of anything new and blood bowl, even an empty box!
I would be beside myself if it was a new WH:Quest, but then ive always prefered the other games set in the fantasy and sci fi universes over the main event games…
I had to laugh when Sam offered the rep some live Q&A and Jason ran to say can’t because he must go. GW is still shy from live interaction with their fans, pity I was there at live chat with some good questions. I cannot blame them though, the bad blood still runs strong and they need a lot of things to fix before they can stand in a live (moderated I must add) Q&A without flak running amok. What Ben said plus price point for this product is better, colour plastic is been used, the only thing they do… Read more »
Edit on second inspection the spews are definitely not snap to fit.
ewwwww, snap fit spews im glad they dont have those 😉
Wonder how big an impediment the fact they would be on sprues full stop is to board gamers?
If we’re taking ‘board gamers’ to mean those who don’t play any type of hobby minis game, whether on a board or with a tape measure, then quite a big one. I know of two minis boardgames which distributors have refused to carry unless the publisher switches to pre-assembled. In GW’s case, I don’t think they’re trying to target that market with these games anyway.
It would be my guess that this is sprews that have existed for some time. No new models, therefore no content that would matter to the vast majority of us.
Pre-ordered!
Spews? Sprews? Maybe sprues?
Good on GW I say. If it’s a fun game I’ll pick it up and I’m looking forward hugely to Blood Bowl.
The tiles look a bit bland imo, sure it will be a fun little game though
From what I can see the art on the tiles appears to be same as the original.
Old sprues are bummer but other than this is welcome release. How ever personally I am waiting more Blood Bowl release.
Think this will have a limited audience really. Boardgamers are not going to touch it as the models are not assembled, 40K players will not want it for the models unlike the Calth set, so ts just wargamers who want to play the game.
