Let’s Play: Oathsworn – Encounter With The Brood Mother
October 7, 2019 by dignity
Jamie from Shadowborne Games is in the studio with Gerry and Justin to continue on their game of Oathsworn.
Check out the Kickstarter here
Having had the misfortune to encounter a Brood Mother, Gerry and Justin must figure out a way to take it down without being swarmed by dozens of rats in the process. Controlling two characters each they must deal with the swarm and do enough damage to each of the Brood Mothers' parts. That is, of course, if they can keep their characters alive.

Hmmm… A bit too much downtime for each player for my liking – alternating chars between 2 players would have improved it (a1 b1 a2 b). If there were 4 players however…
Like the dividing hits by armour rule.
We were going to alternate but then I think alpha strike went for it so you can chose the order
Well, he was a big ****-off war bear!
You did have your chance early on with your bow, but…
I tried, but bear was very shouty and I couldn’t buckwheats it!
I am in agreement I think if they adopted combat like batman and Conan, a hero’s turn and villains and there is no set order so the priest can go then warden back to priest to put fluidity into combat it would reduce the down time. And the heroes end their turn when they choose or when out of animus
Buckwheats are a brutal execution the Steve buscemi’s character uses in Things to do in Denver When Your Dead. A bullet up the tail pipe that causes you to die slowly and miserably.
It seems that massive campaign is the new meta for big Kickstarters- following the success of Kingdom Death, Gloomhaven and 7th Continent.
Since last December, we’ve seen Tainted Grail, Middara, Etherfields, Trudvang Legends, Aeon Trespass, Time of Legends: Destinies and now Oathsworn.
I really love these sorts of games, but I don’t know that I can honestly say that I have time for them all.
I am keeping my eye on the timer!! I’m hoping the shipping won’t be a killer and customs aren’t so mean.
The battle mode looks like a lot of fun. I enjoy Conan, so am very happy to see combat with a resource management element. And the models look fantastic. Well done, Shadowborne.
