Learn How To Pilot Serenity In Firefly: The Game
July 31, 2013 by brennon
Gale Force Nine have put together a little bit more information about Firefly: The Game over on Facebook and shown off Serenity too. Check out the gaming piece below and some information on the way you use it...
So what's it all about?
"Each player in Firefly: The Game commands their own ship, represented in the game by a shiny Firefly ship model. During the game, you’ll move your ship on the ‘Verse map game board, recruiting crew, outfitting them and your ship with gear and upgrades while looking for paying work to keep your boat in the air and win the game."
With a ship at your command you then have to pick up cargo, upgrades, and even some secrets stash in order to make your riches. It's going to be interesting seeing how the interaction works between players and with the ships and indeed their crew being integral parts of the experience, how that's going to effect proceedings.
Gale Force Nine had great success with Spartacus and I think they will handle this franchise well too.

I totally need that Serenity ship model for my Star Wars Saga Edition campaign 😀
I think the concept of rival ships was the wrong approach for a Firefly boardgame. The charm of Firefly was in the characters themselves. This game feels a bit too generic. To get a better feel for the tone of the tv series the game should have been a (semi) co-operative format with the players as the crew on a single firefly ship each of them with competing agendas/goals.
Yeah I can’t help but feel they missed the mark on this one… Still sounds fun, but a little generic.
i dont know, it seems to let you play as the crew you just end up fighting to hire the full tv show cast and im hopping you can mess about with your opponents trade/smuggling runs. cant wait to get my hands on it. 🙂
Sounds like a logical expansion of the Spartacus formula. I hope it has the charm of the show worked into it somehow.
