In Consumption: Food and Choices, you play as a character with a particular diet preference which will direct your strategy. Over six rounds, you will try and achieve your best diet and exercise combination possible. Shop for ingredients, make recipes, eat out and keep your fitness levels up.

Over the six rounds, you can solicit help from various health professionals, including a Fitness Coach, Restauranteur, and Personal Shopper.

At the end of the game, you will gain points for 'correct' diet choices, and lose points for not sticking to your plan. The player with the most points at the end of the game is the winner and, I'm guessing, also the smuggest prat ever to walk God's green earth.

I have been critical of board games before, but I never actually thought I would hate a concept this much. Designed by a dietician, Kolossal Games have said that Consumption: Food and Choices 'encourages you to balance your choices of satisfying your cravings with overindulgence', and I can see how this game may even inspire you to make better food choices in your day-to-day living.

That being said, I do not need a board game where I achieve a better level of health on the tabletop than I do in my actual life. The artwork doesn't appeal to me, and I even hate the name of this game - I keep thinking of the Victorian illness, rather than food (probably a good thing since if I want a chocolate bar, I now have to give it serious consideration first).

I'm being hyperbolically harsh, I know. This could be a really good teaching aid nutrition-driven learning. I'm an avid cook, and I'd love to see some of the recipes in this to check if they actually work.

But I have no access to an Executive Chef, there's a Chinese on my way home, and a bottle of wine chilling in my fridge. It's Friday night, and both board games and life are meant to be enjoyed. If you're not as jaded as me, however, you can back Consumption: Food And Choices on Kickstarter now, where it is already fully funded.

Happy weekend guys. Order a pizza.
