Knuckleduster Tinker With New Board Game, Gunfight Royale!
February 27, 2020 by brennon
Knuckleduster Miniatures has been showing off a new board game project they have in the works which takes your Wild West adventures to the tabletop in a different way. Check out what you think of Gunfight Royale from these early previews.
This new game that they have been working on uses some of the elements of their skirmish game, Gunfighter's Ball, but takes that and gives it a board game twist. The idea here is to be able to involve your non-wargaming friends in the hobby with a Wild West game which features quick and easy mechanics as well as plastic miniatures.
To this end, the team at Knuckleduster Miniatures has taken some of their existing range and given them a heroic/chibi look to their design in order to give the game a more quirky feel. As you can see, Knuckleduster has been working away on quite a few new models for this which build on their current collection.
Whilst above shows off a lot of different coloured renders, the team has also prepared some prototype versions of the plastic miniatures which have turned out quite nicely indeed!
I think that the chibi look to the miniatures will work really well as a way to get younger gamers into the mix and also helps to give things a much more comical feel. When you've got fun looking miniatures like this on the tabletop you're going to be taking things a little less seriously!
Lots more content is on the way from Knuckleduster as they prepare to show off how the game plays and more. Also, they have said that if the Kickstarter funds well they will be looking to include metal versions of the characters, custom game components and the chance to add realistic versions of these characters into the game. You could also do that yourself if you like by checking out their webstore!
I am certainly interested in seeing how this game plays!

I love Knuckleduster’s stuff, but I’m not sure there’s a real market for chibi Old West minis. I could be proven wrong though.
You could use their existing range for the game if that helps – they have said they will have an option to include that as part of the Kickstarter 🙂
That I could be on board for. The Blackwater Gulch fella tried a KS for an Old West boardgame with minis a few years ago that didn’t fund. Always thought it was a good idea.
Love the toony look to the figures.
Colour me interested. Not really sold on the chibi style but like the idea of having an old west board game
