The Knight Games arm of Kight Models is going to be coming to Kickstarter soon with a project to bring Harry Potter: Catch The Snitch to the tabletop. This is the first of their new board game line and it's focused on the Fantasy wizarding sport of Quidditch.

Catch The Snitch - Knight Models

Catch The Snitch (which should really have been called Quidditch right?) Is going to a complete box experience where you and a friend take control of a team of Quidditch players as they seek to claim the one against one of the other Hogwarts Houses.

The set is going to feature two teams of 35mm (one would assume) miniatures for Gryffindor and Hufflepuff.

Gryffindor Team - Knight Models

As you can see, the Gryffindor team features a number of named characters from the film series which make up the team. You also have an unnamed Seeker as he is eventually replaced by Harry Potter in the story.

On the other side, you've got a team of unnamed Hufflepuff players. Apparently, they haven't included the names because this is based on the film interpretation of the characters and they don't have actual names in that version of the story.

I'm sure that some folks are already going to come up with some names for these characters based on their knowledge of the Potterverse but it maybe would have been fun to see the folks at Knight just coming up with fun in-world names or just making everyone non-descript?

As well as the players you'll also get all of the tokens, cards and the pitch for playing games of Quidditch out on the tabletop.

There do appear to be cards included in the image above for both Ravenclaw and Slytherin too so maybe we'll see them added into the mix for this Kickstarter too. It would make sense to cover all of the different Houses to make it a more complete experience.

One of the things that immediately strikes me about the game is that whilst Quidditch is made quite exciting in the books and films, it's not actually that fun of a sport when you get into the details. A lot of it can be solved by just catching the snitch! Still, I would assume that there is a lot more to the game and Knight Games have put some effort into turning this into a fun clash between two broom riding teams.

It wouldn't be a Harry Potter game without Harry Potter involved and so there will be a miniature for him included as part of the Kickstarter campaign.

I am interested to see a gameplay video or two about this game to see just how it plays on the tabletop. I'm all for seeing just what the team at Knight Games can do and it seems like a solid choice for them to build on the Harry Potter range they've been building up over the years.

Will it be any good and will they change the name to simply Quidditch? We shall see!
