Knight Models Bring Harry Potter Board Game To Kickstarter
November 2, 2020 by brennon
The Knight Games arm of Kight Models is going to be coming to Kickstarter soon with a project to bring Harry Potter: Catch The Snitch to the tabletop. This is the first of their new board game line and it's focused on the Fantasy wizarding sport of Quidditch.
Catch The Snitch // Knight Models
Catch The Snitch (which should really have been called Quidditch right?) Is going to a complete box experience where you and a friend take control of a team of Quidditch players as they seek to claim the one against one of the other Hogwarts Houses.
The set is going to feature two teams of 35mm (one would assume) miniatures for Gryffindor and Hufflepuff.
Gryffindor Team // Knight Models
As you can see, the Gryffindor team features a number of named characters from the film series which make up the team. You also have an unnamed Seeker as he is eventually replaced by Harry Potter in the story.
On the other side, you've got a team of unnamed Hufflepuff players. Apparently, they haven't included the names because this is based on the film interpretation of the characters and they don't have actual names in that version of the story.

I'm sure that some folks are already going to come up with some names for these characters based on their knowledge of the Potterverse but it maybe would have been fun to see the folks at Knight just coming up with fun in-world names or just making everyone non-descript?
As well as the players you'll also get all of the tokens, cards and the pitch for playing games of Quidditch out on the tabletop.
Catch The Snitch Components // Knight Models
There do appear to be cards included in the image above for both Ravenclaw and Slytherin too so maybe we'll see them added into the mix for this Kickstarter too. It would make sense to cover all of the different Houses to make it a more complete experience.
One of the things that immediately strikes me about the game is that whilst Quidditch is made quite exciting in the books and films, it's not actually that fun of a sport when you get into the details. A lot of it can be solved by just catching the snitch! Still, I would assume that there is a lot more to the game and Knight Games have put some effort into turning this into a fun clash between two broom riding teams.
It wouldn't be a Harry Potter game without Harry Potter involved and so there will be a miniature for him included as part of the Kickstarter campaign.
Harry Potter Seeker // Knight Models
I am interested to see a gameplay video or two about this game to see just how it plays on the tabletop. I'm all for seeing just what the team at Knight Games can do and it seems like a solid choice for them to build on the Harry Potter range they've been building up over the years.
Will it be any good and will they change the name to simply Quidditch? We shall see!

Someone contact J. K. Rowling and ask her what the names of the Hufflepuff players are.
It’s apparently to do with film rights over book rights. The Quidditch players in the movies don’t have names so they don’t get names here.
You can get the four teams on tinternet but not the one’s from the film’s so the book’s?
I’ll stick them on discord trash talk for everyone to see.
Will this be again only available in the UK and Spain? 😉
Given KM’s record with the HP game, this may be a good thing.
I’m liking this. A lot. I just need to see how the rules work to assess if it’s worth the investment…
I must say it looks lovely… look forward to seeing painted figures on the board for scale….
Those are really good looking.
Why not against Slytherin, that wouldbe more iconic, though this way they can sell it as an expansion.
I could use the models for a fun Blood Red Skies crossover game 🙂
Love the look of figures.
So on Facebook you can see the Syltherin and Ravenclaw team. The Slytherin team has named characters with exception of teh beaters and sadly Draco is ot among them, Ravenclaw has no names.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMAMLJ1VcFA models do not look that good.
Indeed, miniatures look horrible for a collector like me. Hard pass on this one for now.
PS: The kickstarter miniatures look similar to the prototype ones from the video 🙁
It lasted just one day ?
The current situation of uncertainty in the world derived from the electoral campaign in the United States, is negatively affecting our Kickstarter. It’s generating many technical problems on the web and freezing our communication strategy plan.
Cancelled for another week…mmmmmmmmm
