King Conan Strides Onto Kickstarter As They Hit The $2 Million Mark!
February 9, 2015 by brennon
Conan has stepped out onto the battlefield alongside a whole bunch of additional heroes and monsters as the campaign on Kickstarter bursts through the $2 million mark. There's a neat interview with Adrian Smith above too!
Here's a look at some of the new add-ons that are coming your way for the world of Conan. Not only is the King coming (a closer look at him below) but there's big monstrous creatures like Thaug and even a Camel to punch (remember that scene in the film?)!
King Conan himself is going to be based on a number of different pieces of artwork with the first one, which is a free upgrade for those who pledge as a King, by Gary Gianni. I think it's a very commanding piece although I don't like that Conan has developed foot-on-rock syndrome. I like the aged and tired look to him though as he's grown more noble.
The other artwork has been done by Xavier Collette and looks awesome once again as an alternative take on the pair that is Conan and Belit. At this point you've got about three or four versions of the pair! Once again a noble looking Conan and a lithe and deadly looking Belit who seems intent to steal everything you own.
Last but not least you might have spied another expansion for the game! The Nordheim expansion takes Conan into the frozen North and has you fighting against the deadly Vanir and more. You can see some of the artwork and the miniature for these fiery bearded individuals. I think this might end up being my favourite expansion although I do like the Stygian one too.
There's also some important but less 'cool' information in the form of some costs for shipping if you're interested!

Those are really nice. That Vanir guy looks like he was from Skyrim with his beard and horned helmet.
NOOO
King Conan, why rest ye your royal footage on a random stone?
I thought ye more noble than to do so.
Save it for the heads of thine slain enemies.

The models overall look great.
The models aren’t wearing any overalls.
Oh, I see what you mean.. 😛
we will see the final quality of the miniatures produced… all we have seen are renders, artwork and some master or resins. With the amount of miniatures being delivered for the price they ask, i seriously doubt they will provide us with high quality miniatures.
The proof of the pudding and all that. We will just have to wait and see. You have to also take into account that this is primarily a board game unless I have missed something. I don’t know the demographics, but presumably a substantial proportion of backers will be board gamers and not miniatures collectors. The models only need to be good enough. That said there are recent board games that are being published with some fine models. There is no need to be despondent about it just yet. So far the signs are very promising. Am sure someone with… Read more »
$80 for shipping?! That’s insanely steep. Shame but even with the immense value of the backing. I can’t.. And that shipping is just too much. They’ve done Soo well though. Very happy for them. They deserve to have done this well
This is getting to be quite the deal. Very tempted. But sadly, no more kickstarters or mini’s for me for a while. Just ordered up the mancave, as I promised myself I would this year. But then again, no new figures means I can start cleaning up my vast to-do pile… and of course I’m still flagging every cool mini and website that comes along lol. Next year!
It did get a bit heated when ” shipping-gate ” broke, but the numbers used were a ” worst case ” scenario example. It will depend ( obviously ) depend on how much stuff you want ( such as myself getting one of everything ), so I know it will be on the high side for me :(. On the ( very big ) upside, there is a lot of cool stuff coming to me and I can feel an early xmas coming on later this year. 😀 Massive congratulations must go to Jamie and all at Monolith for bringing… Read more »
A ‘Punch A Camel’ scenario: what other game can boast something like that? 🙂
Punch-a-Camel
The Whack-a-Mole game for serious badasses
the pictures are great.
