Join Company Of Heroes As It Comes To The Tabletop

Bad Crow Games have taken to Kickstarter to launch a board game adaptation of the popular real-time strategy video game Company of Heroes.
Company of Heroes is a series of WWII RTS games, originally developed by Relic Entertainment and published by THQ, and later by Sega. In them you take control of one of the nations engaged in the European theatre of conflicts in WWII, aiming to build your war-time economies, expand your armies, before going on to claim victory on the battlefield.
This board game carries over a lot of the elements that most characterise the video games, including elements such as fog of war, manoeuvring forces to capture resource points, and the ability to upgrade and purchase your units. In fact, the dice included in the game are primarily for this purpose, letting your mark out what upgrades have been taken for a given unit.
The game comes with plenty of different options to play the game, such as variant map lay outs and a variety of scenarios to play through. Most interesting though is that the game can either be played as a turn-based game or it can be played in real-time. The idea of bringing real-time strategy to the tabletop is an interesting one and definitely captures the side of me that spent so many hours playing RTS video games.
The Kickstarter has already blasted past its initial funding goal, unlocking plenty of stretch goals. This looks to be a game with the sort of in-depth strategy to appeal to tabletop gamers, as well as fans of the original video games.
You can find out more over on the Kickstarter page.
Were you a fan of this video game? How do you think it will fair on the tabletop?

Not sure I understand why this would be released given the plethora of WW2 skirmish games already out there
Probably hoping to cash in on the Video Gamers that play their game already. Someone probably has shown them that other video games are being converted and so they decided to try and cash in as well.
It looks more like a strategy game a la Memoir ’44 …
However it is odd to see this one converted to boardgame format.
the miniature’s for the game look great.
Looks interesting.
I always find it just as interesting to see that not all companies see ‘scale values’ the same. This company see 15mm as 1/120, while Battlefront see 15mm as 1/100 in scale.
Of course the smaller sizing will fit their game board better I guess.
Cool, I loved the videogames. Playing in real time sounds pretty dynamic and could lead to some lighter, quicker games.
Never played the video game, but this has peaked my interest.
