Roll up, roll up, and welcome to the weird world of Phileas Fogg, Levi Strauss, and Amelia Edwards! Witness glorious gadgets like the innovative Thinking Machine, the astounding Beer Glass Counter, and the colossal Climate Changer!
Crystal Palace is a dice-placement board game set during the 1851 World Fair. Each player takes on the role of a nation competing to secure the best resources, patents, and minds through strategic worker placement. At the start of their turn, players determine what stats they want to play in the round, with the higher number, the greater the benefit.
However, high stats come at a price, and dice are placed on eight action locations (Patent Office, Reform Club, London Times, Port of London, Waterloo Station, British Museum, Bank of England, Westminster) which will determine their ability to collect resources on that turn. The player with the greatest collection of innovative inventions, perfect patents, and boffin brains at the end of the game is the winner!
Crystal Palace is a really interesting worker placement game with a quirky theme. Publisher Feuerland Games will be scheduling the game for release later this year at Essen Spiel 2019.
