GCT Studios' Rise of the Kage has got just four hours left (at the time of writing this) on Kickstarter so if you want to jump in on this board game of ninja assassination and brutal guards then you'll have to be quick!

So what is Rise of the Kage..?

"In a game of Rise of the Kage, 2-4 players can choose to play as the ninja of the shadow wind clan. Deadly warriors, tasked with a variety of missions all ultimately focussed upon taking down the Takashi clan, the Jwar Isles' ruling family. Or you can choose those that have sworn their lives to protect their Daimyo; the brave guards of the Prefecture of Ryu."

...and that's certainly one of the reasons why I think this game is pretty awesome! As well as being able to play as the lithe ninjas you can also try and protect the Daimyo as it says above and control the guards! It's like turning Tenchu on it's head.

Right now the campaign has raised more than double what it was aiming for originally and this has of course unlocked a whole lot of stretch goals to add to the base boxed game as you can see above. These are the sweet spots giving you access to a bunch of different miniatures for using in the game.

That's certainly another thing to note as well. The miniatures for this game, as you'll see above in the little break down, are superb! So much detail has gone into making them incredibly characterful and it all stems from their great work on the Bushido range. If you're going to be a bad ass guard or sneaky ninja you want to look the part.

This is just a selection of some of the stretch goals they've added to the game but there's also extra equipment cards, new miniatures for both the guards and ninja sides and well as an entire new board. They even hit the stretch goal allowing them to make all of the plastic miniatures one piece, fully assembled and ready to play.

As an added incentive if you've played Bushido in the past then you'll want to be keeping an eye on this as the ninjas themselves will also become a faction in the game. An awesome skirmish based entry level product then perhaps with loads of replayability?
