Head To The Horses In AEG’S Upcoming Ready Set Bet Board Game
April 29, 2022 by fcostin
This time last year, I was revelling in the enjoyment of Cubitos. A race of luck and strategy, putting a block of cheese in lederhosen front-and-centre of the title, traversing across a track one frantic dice roll at a time.
Alderac Entertainment Group is on the verge of releasing a new racing game, placing players in the stands making bets and waging the tension-filled horse racing in Ready Set Bet.
A day out at the horses is where 2-9 players will be headed. Keen on cheering away, socialising and opening their purses to bet on the successes of their favourite horses.
However, the fate of the earnings does not rely on the sheer skill of the horse in the race, the roll of the dice will determine the outcome. Either coming out in fruition with a bank of earnings, or pockets emptied in mere desperation for a win.

Over a course of four races, players will be placing down betting tokens on their chosen horses as the race is going ahead. Depending on the outcome and the fate of the dice, at the end of each race - the bet could sit in anybody's favour and is resolved.
With some players taking in more cash-moneys than others, they will get a chance to upgrade to rake in more cash with a VIP Clubcard. After the four rounds have closed, the player with the most money at the end of the game is determined as the winner. Taking roughly 45-60 minutes to play through, depending on how many punters are at the table.
The game is set to release on the 19th of August this year, heading to retail for $39.99. Given the player count is up to nine people at the table, it'd be a great one to get the family involved in. But given the nature of betting, probably best not to encourage them to the horse races too early, being pitched at 14+.
What do you think of the concept of Ready Set Bet!

Prepare your son or daughter for their new life as a degenerate sports gambler! There have been some fun horse racing boardgames though (Winner’s Circle, Turf Master, etc.)
