Gretchen Spooks Her Way Onto The Blood Bowl Pitch!
January 15, 2021 by brennon
Games Workshop dropped another teaser this week for an upcoming Star Player to use in your games of Blood Bowl. Here we have Gretchen Wachter who is a Blood Bowl Widow who decided to hit the pitch and scare her opponents to death.

The story behind Gretchen was that her husband was obsessed with the sport much to her annoyance. So, when she died, the Necromancer known as Dirk The Abhorrent raised her from her grave and has put her knowledge of the game to good use on the pitch.
She is, as with most banshee types, able to wail and scare off her opponents and she also benefits from being incorporeal. Once per game, she has a special rule where she can dodge and after making the roll, add her strength to it as well in order to slip out of the tightest of Dwarfen cages!
As well as her fun ability I think the model for Gretchen is great. The flowing ghostly look is on point and I like the little touches like her chains picking up the ball which leave her hands free.
If you've got a spare 260,000 GPs lying around in your teams offers then she might not be a bad pick, especially if you're finding it hard to move the ball up the pitch.
What do you make of Gretchen?

Ooh it’s the new ghost of Christmas future? A fab looking model.
That is very nice looking ghost for BB.
Love this! I’m painting Blood Bowl at the minute for a league I’m planning with my gaming group in the (distant…) future and a couple of the teams were missing good Star player options. This lady is the second Undead star Player we’ve seen now and that really plugs a gap. Just need an Undead Big Guy now.
Well impressed, not only with the sculpt but also a VERY nice paintjob on that one 🙂
Gretchen ?
How dare you !
😉
Well I laughed mate . 🙂
I’m very tempted to pick this one up and use it as a Tomb Banshee for my Nighthaunt army (don’t like the original one)!
Is it odd that the thing I like most about the figure is her hair? Her form is good through the implied motion of the skirt and chains but its really the flowing tresses that get me. Might be my reason for liking female dark elves.
Really like this one – very different and characterful!
Looks good, I shall be getting Gretchen and Skrull Halfheight when they arrive.
Not to be that guy, but Gretchen being Wraith means she has the “no hands” trait so she cannot pick up the ball, regardless of how many chains she has ha ha.
It’s a nice visual touch however!
