Funko Games are beginning to make themselves a name for bringing nostalgia to the tabletop in the form of board games. With previous releases of Back to the Future - Back in Time, and Pan AM as board games, the newest release was certainly something that piqued my interest. I am ready to exclaim "Hey, you guys!" in my best Sloth impression, as we are joined by Chunk, Mikey, and the rest of the gang in the upcoming title The Goonies: Never Say Die the board game.

The upcoming board game prepares you for exactly what you would expect for an adventure with the Goonies - a whirlwind adventure full of twists, turns, traps, treasure and triumph. Including stunning miniatures of your favourite characters, Mikey, Mouth, Chunk, Data and Sloth, players will need to work as a well-oiled machine to overcome puzzles and strategy to attempt to escape the clutches of the Fratelli family in hunt for One-Eyed Willie's coveted hoard of gold.

As delightful as that sounds, we all know there is always one player that enjoys throwing a spanner in the works and causing a bit of chaos here and there. The Goondocks Master will have control over the threats that loom within the game, and will attempt to serve peril to the delightful gang with Rats, Bats, Skeletons, The Fratellis and even One-Eyed Willy himself.

The game contains nine different adventures, and takes the theme of the 80s with pride. The components and artwork within the game have been highly inspired by the movie itself. The dice even resemble the gems which One-Eyed Willy's pirates stole back in 1632!

There is also an expansion up on the Funko Games website too, entitled The Goonies: Under the Goondocks Expansion. This expansion continues the story from the base game, adding new characters such as Stef, Andy, Brand and Troy along with three mischievous adventures to embark on.

Want to take a look at the rules? The rules are already available for you to download and peek into before the release. They perfectly fit the 80s vibe and theme of the film, which certainly translates over to the rules, which can be downloaded here.

The game has been announced for release for Q3 of 2021, so get your hidden treasure map prepared, get your practice in doing the truffle shuffle and stock up on Baby Ruth chocolate bars, as fans of the Goonies franchise will be sure to not miss being part of The Goonies' upcoming adventure.
