The Goblin King Gets Sculpted Up For Labyrinth Board Game
February 29, 2016 by brennon
The Goblin King has finally been sculpted up by the River Horse team and their contributors for the Labyrinth Board Game. See what you think of the three-up and painted mock-up below for this iconic movie character...
They have done a good job on bringing the character to life but maybe something is a little 'mushy' when it comes to his clothing. The model doesn't seem as well defined as others in the range so far. That might just be me though as many others have quite liked the look of the model.
Will you be keeping an eye on this game?

Yep this is the first one I don’t like, he doesn’t look like he’s wearing tights. And as you said, his clothes just look like blobs all melting off of him. Rubbish compared with the rest.
Compared to the others this is not great – hair strands are too thick and it feels too bulky
Agree with the previous remarks. This is the first sculpt that has been a disappointment. Even the paint job looks mediocre. He looks like a badly done toy, which is a shame when compared to the gorgeous detail that was painted onto Sarah.
Actually most people disliked it a lot, no need to be soft : Is a complete disaster compared to the other models, they really need to redo this, otherwise is not even worth buying because this is the main piece.
The detail seems to be missing from Jareth. The pose is flat (as well as his notorious trousers) and isn’t engaging. He should be leaning forward and slightly down (remember, he was taller than everyone except Ludo).
Ouch… As we say in France, c’est de la merde.
It reminds me more of Ron Pearlman from Beauty and the Beast.
I don’t blame River Horse for this almighty miss. The human hand was not meant to be able to capture the Bowie….
Too right!
There’s a Jereth in Zombicide.

Point proven…
I have that guy included in my pledge so I might use him as a stand-in.
Ok so the sculpt is a little chunky, still let’s all “Dance Magic Dance”
I was going to mention the bulge in his trousers, but I won’t.
You would be right to do so. From an accuracy perspective, the bulge is something to consider. I’m sure there will be those who do such a conversion. Right now, sadly, the sculpt makes him look like he is wearing adult diapers …
🙁
Hmm, back to the drawing board methinks.
