Games Workshop Start Up Blood Bowl Facebook Page
April 2, 2016 by brennon
Games Workshop have started up a new social media page for Blood Bowl! This is a good sign that they're going to be making a big song and dance about this. Here is their first proper painted preview for the Gouged Eye Orcs...
The model is looking great and I like the new direction for their kits. There's a lot of attention to detail here and it's good to see that the Old World is living and breathing in some way; even if it is an alternative universe.
Will you be following them for more news?

The mini looks good apart from the face, which looks terrible. The teeth look weird, the lips look weird and so does the jawline. I’m not impressed especially as this will no doubt carry a premium price tag. The game itself might be good though.
I completely agree. It’s as if someone accidentally stepped on the still warm cast and quietly put it back on the painter’s table before anyone noticed.
They need to get their production in gear though. I doubt Dreadball managed to claim a piece of the pie but Guildball is picking up a good following at a decently rapid pace, and their minis equal GW’s in quality as well. Different game, I know, but still within the same genre.
Guildball is amazing ( by far my favourite game of all time) but mechanics wise they are as diffeent as, well soccer and american football. I can see the two games happily complimenting each other
Dreadball’s minis leave a lot to be desired and, as the game’s evolved it’s had some power creep issues. That said they have a game that’s years ahead of Blood Bowl that we’ve seen so far and I desperately hope the do an outstanding version 2.
In the meantime I’ll continue to enjoy Dreadball as it is. I’ve also high hopes for Guild Ball but that will be down to the wisdom of my fonatsy-or-sci-fi-soprts-game group.
Jim and Bob still going strong behind the mic.
Could just be the angle of the picture, but the sculpt does indeed look a bit off. The face in particular looks weird.
Though in all honesty it really doesn’t matter all that much as long as the new, actual game will be good. There’s tons of fantasy football teams out there from numerous small companies, folks will find models they like to play the game with.
I’m really looking forward to this, if it’s even halfway as good as I hope, it’s going to be awesome!
Very interesting… I am going to have to look into this.
I originally purchase BB from 1st edition (long gone to who knows where) and kept in touch with he ‘living rule book’. I wonder if the new rules (I assume there will be new rules?) will take it to a bad or good place? About the iage, yep it does look odd, I really liked the original sculpts, we will have t wait and see. But if GW overdo the price tag, there are a number of good quality alternative figures out there. As for the fantasy-sports genre, I think BB, DB and GB have their own places and probably… Read more »
Awesome i only managed to start with second edition and the polystyrene pitch what were the card figutres like i with first edition i have always wondered 🙂
So … GW’s policy is anything that isn’t AoS or Wh40k only gets mentioned on Facebook ?
I hope they put a bit more effort in promoting their ‘speciality shop’ stuff once it is released.
Did I mention I hate it when companies use Facebook for promoting stuff ? That site is beeping annoying if you don’t have an account.
White Dwarf and Warhammer Visions both regularly feature Forgeworld stuff so when the Specialist stuff is released it’ll likely feature the same way.
Not that I’d bet money on anything about GW’s advertising at the moment. They’re slowly but surely branching out and trying things they’ve ignored for years.
I really hope that game is going to be good.
Glad to see the old game get a reboot as it really does need one.
It good that its being ressurrected but i have my Skaven from third edition and not going to be buying the new version.
I wonder if Mordheim will also make a return?
I’m praying to the dark gods that it does!!! 😀
Definitely my most anticipated title along with Necromunda for making a comeback. Necromunda will make a re-appearance for sure but I’m cautious about Mordheim, given the fate of the old world 🙁
I’m just waiting for GW/FW to just reveal the game. C’mon, reveal the game, we’ve ben waiting long enough! 😀
*been
Sod it lol
Not really a fan of that sculpt to be honest, it looks kinda ‘lumpy’ to me. Maybe its the way it has been painted?
I like that Ork, can’t wait for more pictures especially of the board.
I keep hoping Workshop will re-create Adeptus Titanicus from the new Warlord titan. Stick it on 8-10cm bases, field about a dozen of them a side alongside Imperators and what not. That would be glorious.
I really hope they revamp the rules. Having played online bb is very boring when playing against serious gamers. The cage tactics is so boring… That and the fumbles and the indispensable rerolls.
That is a weird looking Orc… hmm hopefully the humans look better.
They’ll resurrect Blood Bowl but WHFB is left out in the cold…
As a current Blood Bowl player I’m really excited about the new edition. I don’t like the sculpts I’ve seen so far, but my old school Orcs and Chaos Dwarfs aren’t exactly pretty either. I just hope GW don’t mess with the formula too much, otherwise the BB community will simply ignore it and stick with the old edition.
I’m not even being melodramatic when I say that I think that is Games Workshop’s worst Orc, to date.
The awful pinks and blues on the ears and lips, as well as the squashed, “puffer fish” face, it is just not up to par with most of what’s out there nowadays.
If this was the one derp model you had to put up with in the set, that would be annoying but acceptable. The fact that they are using this as the big marketing front-piece has me very, very concerned.
