Games Workshop Put Together Horus Heresy: Betrayal At Calth Playthrough Video
November 12, 2015 by brennon
The legendary Phil Kelly of Games Workshop is joined by two players, Chris and Amy, as they take us through a playthrough of Horus Heresy: Betrayal At Calth. You can watch the video above...
The video is actually a great watch and it takes you through all of the mechanics of the game and shows off how the missions work. This could be a good bit of break time watching for you today with a coffee.
It's also a great sign that Games Workshop are starting to 'get' the community as they show off things like this, which other companies have been doing for years.
Will you be getting the game?

Played this on the pre-order day at my local GW and whilst I’ll be picking up the box set for use in 30k games, the board game is actually really fun and we played a fair few games throughout the day.
I like the big hexagons – reminds me of BattleMasters!
it would be cool if they had some kind of run-amok dreadnought rules like the Battlemasters cannon tiles…
Looks like a pretty well made game. Was initially skeptical but pleasantly surprised.
I see other games companies do this and think, that’s them attempting to interact with their community. Then GW comes out and does it, and I feel les like its for the community and more like, their just trying to remain in the spotlight and follow what everyone else is doing.
Bought the game off a guy who only wanted the 30K plastics. Did the same with Assassinorum. I’m glad they have started making ‘board’ games again … but FFG has them beat on content / replay-ability / per dollar spent. I’m getting these game because I’m a GW fan, but I’m lurking and picking them up sans-minis for $20ish, because this looks fun, but not $150 fun.
Yay Smurfs’ win, still not to sure of the game.
Been hearing a lot about this, and there seems to be several people saying that the game is surprisingly rather fun. I think I saw one person say that it is a fun tactical skirmish board game. May need to give this a try especially if it is true that this is not a limited edition product. The recent Specialist Games announcement, has got me excited about GW again.
While it’s hard to be definite long term, it’s not limited in the way Space Hulk was. A lot of the chatter on here was of people considering buying multiple boxes and it was always going to be popular yet the pre-orders are still available. They must have a huge amount of stock.
Personally, I really enjoyed that battle report. Seemed like everyone was enjoying themselves and were behaving pretty similarly to how my friends and I would behave (probably a bit more beer / pringles / bad language) during one of these types of playing sessions. If GW release more of these types of light hearted videos, I’d be more for it tbh. GW certainly could interact with people a bit more (especially wrt news), but honestly, looking at some of the forums out there, I don’t blame them for not bothering because very often you find them in a damned if… Read more »
Oh and the painting video’s that GW have been put out, I’ve found to be incredibly useful / helpful / well done. Never let that painting chap go, GW.
Game looks like fun to me, seems to play in very similar style to execution force minus the AI mechanic, although i wouldn’t be surprised if there is an expansion for that. Think its a shame they didnt do the same for execution force as apart from the lack of expansion and alternate missions it is a lot of fun to play, especially with non wargaming friends, as its an even lower barrier to entry than space hulk… Also glad to GW seeing the value of play through videos, be nice if they went back and filmed all the starter… Read more »
