"Lannister, Targaryen, Baratheon, Stark, Tyrell... they're all just spokes on a wheel. This one's on top, then that one's on top, and on and on it spins, crushing those on the ground." - Daenerys Targaryen

It is the Age of Conquest, three centuries before the events of Game of Thrones. Westeros stands as a fractured continent, with seven warring kingdoms jostling each other for power and dominance. A new power has invaded from Old Valyria, bringing with them fire and blood. The time is now ripe to establish yourselves as the strongest Kingdom of the realm and unite Westeros under your banner. Claim victory in this continent-spanning war and forge the Iron Throne!

Defy Danger has released a fan designed mega-game surrounding the world of Westeros from George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire Series.  In Aegon's Conquest, players are divided into eight Houses of four players each, and a final single player team to represent the Night's Watch.

Each member of the team will represent the four personalities of their House; the Lord, the Heir, the Knight and the Maester.  Defy Danger also suggest that four Game Masters oversee the mega-game, bringing the participant total to 37.

The game focuses on both roleplay and tactical wargame mechanics.  Creators Defy Danger have stated that, while the mechanics appear simple, the game is actually a complex mix of "face-to-face diplomacy, tactical play, secret dealings, betrayal, and heartfelt roleplaying".

Power is gained by conquests and siege tactics, finding relics and forming alliances. Power is lost through betrayal by so-called allies, and the players with the most power at the end win, taking their rightful place on the Iron Throne!

I would absolutely love to see this game in action and, being based where the television show is filmed, there are some amazing places to host a storyline like this, and access to some pretty excellent Iron Throne replicas to allow our future ruler an adequate coronation.

In short, I'll be pitching this to the big man @warzan as a possible future event.  In the meantime, if you think you have what it takes to organize a game of this scale, you can download the pack for free on DriveThruRPG.
