Gale Force Nine Reveal More On Homeland Board Game
October 18, 2014 by brennon
Gale Force Nine might have had a bit of a run in with the NSA as a few details of their new Homeland: The Game tabletop Board Game were revealed over on their website. Ok so maybe there wasn't much hacking involved but a bit of political satire is fun right?
Some more details on the game...
Homeland: The Game is a semi-cooperative game of intrigue, deception and hidden agendas. Players assume the roles of CIA analysts, directing agency resources to combat the rising tide of global terrorism. Be warned, not everyone is what they seem.
- Stay Alert: New threats are constant. Every card played matters. Any action could be the difference between stability and catastrophe.
- Be Vigilant: Use every tool at your disposal to stop impending terrorist threats. Deploy soldiers, insert agents and recruit key assets to neutralize imminent dangers and keep the nation safe.
- Trust No One: Not everyone is what they seem. Watch your rival’s actions carefully to try to decipher if they are working against you!
...which plays very much into the type of games Gale Force Nine have worked on in the past. Both Spartacus and Sons of Anarchy have been quite insidious and plotting affairs and this one appears to have much the same feeling. It will be interesting to see if the real feeling of not knowing who to trust carries over into the game proper.
If you haven't watched the TV show by the way then I suggest you dive in and give it a watch. It may have trailed off a bit in terms of excitement towards the end of the last series but the new one has just started on UK TV and it's well worth getting involved in. Plenty of intrigue and current affairs drama to enjoy.
Will you be considering this?

Does the boardgame start off brilliantly and then badly lose its way?…
Is their an original Israeli version available?
The original Israeli TV show was called Hatufim a.k.a Prisoners of War. You can get it on DVD and Blu Ray. There are only 2 seasons right now and the writer, Gideon Raff, has said he wants to write a third.
Homeland is one of my favourite TV shows right now, it has a great story and a top class cast as well. It’s also the same production team that made 24, so the production quality is always great.
I don’t think there is a game of the original Israeli version anywhere, as far as I know.
