Gale Force Nine Closing In On First DUNE Board Game Expansion
March 10, 2020 by brennon
Gale Force Nine is closing in on the release of their first expansion for DUNE: The Board Game. The Ixians & Tleilaxu House Expansion is coming to add more insidious backstabbing and rivalry into their take on the classic board game.
Here is a bit of the information on this particular expansion if you're not familiar with the world of Dune...
"Both the Ixians and the Tleilaxu are integral to the economy of CHOAM and the Imperium. The royal family of Ix had once been one of the wealthiest in the Imperium. Because of a successful invasion of Ix by the Tleilaxu and the Emperor’s Sardaukar, and then, after many years, the liberation of Ix by Ixian and Atreides forces, the Ixians and the Tleilaxu are mortal enemies."
Each of them provide you with different playstyles to try and master. The first of the houses is the Tleilaxu who are fanatical and xenophobic whilst also being masters of genetic engineering. They are both loathed and underestimated in equal measure and seek to be the most mighty.
You've also got House Ixian who are led by the cyborg Prince Rhombur. They are masters of manufacturing and technology. Even better, they are the only ones who know how to deploy it and use it to their advantage.
If you do like the idea of the game but don't know where to start, I suggest watching Shut Up & Sit Down's review of it below...
So, if you're looking to expand upon your time with Dune then check out this expansion which is coming soon.

Sounds like a great infuriating game but at the same time the rex game could be a fantastic alternative geese I just don’t know.
you have to play this with an assassin gamer. it can be brutal BUT it is well worth the time invested.
even better…the spice harvest expansion allowed variable starting positions….even more brutal.
this game should be on every top 10 list.
Thanks I may do that.
I bought a copy of the GF9 version when it came out but haven’t got around to a game yet. Not sure I’m up for an expansion already, it has only been out for a few weeks but I’m sure the publishers know what they are doing.
Considering the GF9 version of the game first came out last August I don’t think its really a case of rushing out an expansion.
Fair enough,. I can only go by when they arrived in my FLGS and that was January as I bought the first one he sold. On that basis we won’t see the expansion here until June which would probably be about right for time.
