Gale Force Nine To Develop New Star Trek Board Game Series
July 31, 2015 by brennon
There are no images of it yet but we've had news through that Gale Force Nine are going to be snatching up that Star Trek licence in order to make a new board game series that will launch in the summer of 2016! What a coincidence with the anniversary of the show just around the corner...
Some words from Battlefront...
“We are both humbled and excited to add to the legacy of Star Trek,” said John-Paul Brisigotti, CEO of the Battlefront Group. “Building on the great history and depth of Star Trek, the team at Gale Force Nine are creating a compelling game system that will explore all corners of the universe and bring gamers and fans alike into the world of Star Trek like nothing that’s come before.”

We're pretty excited!

Oooo, about time someone brought out a good trek board game.
They did. It’s called Fleet Captains. Amazing game.
Yeah Fleet Captains by Wizkids is really amazing. We played easily 200+ hours. Its a bit fiddly at times but man it delivers the full on Star Trek experience and is indeed a great game.
I’d be interested if it involves miniatures of some kind.. 😎
There is kilngons on the starboardbow
Set phasers to fun!!!
Bet they use it some where
Would like a Firefly style game crossed with Fleet Captains, wonder if it’ll be in the Prime universe or based on the Reboot.
I could easily see them using some ideas from Firefly. Recruiting crew members with fight, diplomacy, and science skills. Choosing your away team for missions. A sector deck you draw from as you move for random encounters (broke up into space sections, like the neutral zone) with some random enemy ship moving about (like reavers… if TNG the Borg). I just hope it’s note too similar otherwise not much need to bring it to the table if you’ve already got Firefly.
There are so many good cooperative Space games that borrow heavily from Star Trek already, no reason GF9 shouldn’t be able to nail this one. Looking forward to how this shapes up!
