Find Humanity A New Home In Black Angel
January 16, 2019 by cassn
Humanity, through its irresponsible behavior, has exhausted the natural resources of Earth, making it almost uninhabitable. In a burst of lucidity, pressed by the irreversible degradation of your planet, the great nations are forced to put aside their differences and share their knowledge in order to create the most vast spacecraft ever constructed.
Black Angel, the first intergalactic ship in humanity's history, is tasked with transporting humanity's genetic legacy in the search for a new home. There is no human presence on the ship, only a series of Artifical Intelligence robots.
However, since no nation quite trusts the other, these AIs are designed to co-manage the Black Angel and be assessed for effectiveness through a Validation Points (VP) system.
Now, Black Angel approaches the planet of Spes, and only greatest AI will be tasked with awakening humanity. Use your good relations with the current alien species of Spes, and your effectiveness as an AI to bring humanity to its salvation. However, be aware, Ravagers lurk on the outskirts of the planet, threatening to destroy everything you have traveled for.
Black Angel has been highly anticipated by board game fans. Using the same dice mechanism as Troyes from designer Sébastien Dujardin (Solenia), and with artwork by Ian O'Toole, Black Angel has been creating quite a bit of forum buzz ahead of its official launch at Gen Con 2019 later this year. This is definitely one to watch in 2019 - keep up to date through the Pearl Games website.

This is a pretty game where the theme has grown on me, colour me intrigued.
As for other games this year: I wouldn’t say that I am excited; but I am looking forward to Oceans (kick-starting in Feb) and Power Grid recharged. Both on the wanna get list for 2019.
