Done and Done. Looking through that lot made me think back, last year was actually pretty good for gaming wasn’t it?
Voted
Voted, some tricky choices in there
Done…….. And now back to painting……
Some excellent nominations in there!
Surprised at some of the options and the lack of others. Anyway done.
The options are based on what was nominated within the parameters. Out of curiosity, what do you feel is missing?
Yeah I know, I’m just surprised some things weren’t as popular, such as FW’s perturabo (off the top of my head).
Peturabo for me was one of the weak releases of the year, not only did it fail to capture any aspect of the character I pictured but in term of impressiveness of sculpt it was fairly lacklustre.
Really? Well each to their own, I mean I thought Perturabo was an awesome model.
Done and done! Good luck to everyone 😀
But even though I can’t get it I think Monster is going to do pretty well
That was much more difficult than last year I think, so much quality in every category.
Well that was easy as apart from one thing I have had in my hands I haven’t seen or played or used any of the nominations
I’ve voted, some great nominations in there, the quality of some of those painting awards is absolutely mind boggling!
I agree. The quality of those paint jobs was just completely astounding!!
Done
It was fun voting because the community dug so deep in what they nominated. It wasn’t all obvious choices from the bigs.
I do miss having separate categories that mirror the hubs that BoW is broken down into.
voted, however much as a I love Guildball, of all the models from the range, im surprised that Fangtooth go the nod (as well as the tokens which are pretty generic tbh). I’m also pleasantly surprised by the amount of miniature games released this year, at voting I could only think of Antares, Guildball and Frostgrave (Despite loving BMG) Look forward to finding out the final results.
Some of the stuff in there is pretty weird.
Like the terrain; I love the ColorED stuff Plastcraft is putting out (I own a whole bunch of their Infinity range), but not got any of the Malifaux stuff.
Then you have the 4grounds tower, which really is something.
Like I don’t know how you can compare the two, because one a really nice quick budget option to put together and you’re done and the other is more or less at the other end of the spectrum when you’re talking about price.
The process is completely democratic and based on nominations put forward by the community. There’s no editorialising by BoW beyond setting the parameters.
Wasn’t meaning to suggest otherwise.
To unpack my previous comment a little more, it’s the reason that some of the categories have a slightly eclectic selection of nominations. As long as it’s a terrain piece released last year then it can be nominated. It’s then up to each individual voter to weigh their merits against each other.
I think it comes down to what people value and feel brings something to their hobby. A well produced but inexpensive terrain piece will be found on many more game tables than a very expensive kit that most gamers may never get to use.
If I can’t afford the watchtower then I won’t have any fun gaming experiences in using it, but I may have played dozens of games with a simpler plasticraft kit this year making that the one which made my hobby better this year.
I don’t think rendered images should have been allowed in the model kit section. Actual physical models only, rather than pre-production computer pictures.
we work with the images we can find unfortunately
with 80 nominees (and not wanting to alert them to the fact they are a finalist before the thing goes live – this can make it tricky)
If you only have rendered images how do you know if the production item will live up to that standard? Sorry, but I stand by my opinion that renders have no place in a section about model *kits*.
It’s not us who decide.
We have to distill the thousands of nominations down into the finalists list, we check (as best we can) that the most nominated are eligible (for within the release time frame).
Then the editing crew pull together the best supporting imagry they can from what is already available out there.
The community picks not us, if we find something isn’t eligible (after the fact) it won’t move to the next phase of the finals nights.
That doesn’t mean it cant be tweaked BTW which were looking at
And the stars have aligned and we now have a better image 🙂
Should go up shortly
That Ben Kommets sigmarine is the best NMM I’ve ever seen. The gold is ridiculous.
Seth. I hope you win bro. Your piece is Friggen bad ass!
Its good to see some truly independent, small scale companies getting nominated as I think it shows that the world of gaming has become a real broad church these days.
Well I’ve submitted my votes at least three of them were very tight calls. I will make no secret of the fact I voted for Guild Ball in at least two categories and I really hope they have a strong 2016!
I am concerned about the lack of communication toward the Gaming Awards Event, it would be very disappointing so see your big show being severely delayed. Is there a reason?
