Final Hours For Mythic Battles: Pantheon Kickstarter
November 30, 2016 by brennon
The amazingly fun Kickstarter for Mythic Battles: Pantheon is coming to a close with just a few hours left before we begin the wait until the box comes to our door. However, they are still smashing stretch goals!
The newest focus is on the Goddess who stole the hearts of many, Aphrodite. They not only showed off the wonderful sculpt for her with swords at the ready but also her statistics which are, as you might imagine, designed around her beauty.
Her rule of Irresistible is an interesting one as it will allow you to control the flow of the game a lot more. Once you begin to drain their hand of Art of War cards she might become unstoppable. If you DO strike her then she's going to hit you back for even daring to do such a thing with her Revenge special rule which is very cruel indeed!
A Bonus Box
If you're looking to expand upon the 'beauty' in your collection then Mythic Games has also teamed up with Paolo Parente for his guest box where he's created alternative versions of Aphrodite and Circe.
As you might imagine they each come with a more pin-up style to them which is, of course, a staple of Paolo's style. I think I prefer the original version of her but it's nice to have some options when it comes to your collection. Some people might pick up both sets and just take the opportunity to paint these up and use the others for gaming.
A Dragon Rises
Following on from that one of the stretch goals that has been unlocked is the Colchis Dragon, a challenge for Jason and the Argonauts as they seek out the Golden Fleece.
The statistics for this beast then follow on from its fearsome reputation.
Sleepless Guardian makes him a dangerous foe indeed where you'll have to rely on your strength and guile alone to beat it. Vigilance also plays around with an additional level of trickery. It would be awesome to actually play out a scenario between Jason and some of his followers looking to take down this mighty beast.
Storage Solutions
Finally, we have this neat Deluxe Storage Box which the team has put together.
This is an optional buy but might be worth considering to keep all of those various dice and other components all in one place. Considering the wealth of content you get with the $99 pledge it might make sense to splurge that little bit extra and pick this up for the sake of tidiness!
Well, have you backed the campaign yet?

I most certainly have. Mythic Battles has raised the bar for how KS campaigns should be ran. It helps that the product is great and the pledge is insane value. Hope to see as many BoW-ers as possible counting down with Leo on the KS live stream tomorrow evening 🙂
I hope that I will have the time, I shall try my best.
While I have backed many kick starters I have never gone out of my way to promote any of them. In this case I feel compelled. I can’t overstate the value of this Kickstarter campaign. If there is anyone sitting on the fence I encourage you to back this campaign. Not only is the gameplay solid, and the miniatures excellent, I can genuinely say that the people creating this product have their hearts in the right place! You can tell the passion from Leo, Quickworthy, and the rest of the team, The communication has been A+, and they have done… Read more »
Well said, er, typed. Cheers!
yep, you can really notice how prepared they have been for the entire campaign.
(plus who doesn’t want to make fun of Leo’s hair ? ;-))
This is looking really good. Also both Aphrodite and Colchis Dragon look great as well.
I want to thank BOW for introducing me to this marvellous game – I knew nothing of it until I spotted the demo that you did before the KS went live. The mins, the mechanics, the fun rules and the sheer range of playing possibilities (11 million permutations and counting as more stretch goals are unlocked). I also cannot commend Jake Thornton – Quirkworthy – Voice of Olympus – enough for his outstanding job in the comments section. And then there is Leo Vesperini. The man is incomparable! He did a live of nearly 3 hours on one night alone!… Read more »
I would like to second @dorthonion sentiment. Thank you BoW. If it was not for the Re-Roll #2 ezine and the totally awesome play thru with Leo I would never have discovered this awesome game and wonderful KS. The Team was fabulous and has set a high bar for future KS. Between the interaction with fans, all the amazing upfront work leading to this KS, the 1500 hours of play testing, the great mini’s and Leo Live! videos it was a joy to be part of all of this! I hope BoW follows through with more from Monolith and just… Read more »
I was aware of the BoW coverage for this game, but pretty much ignored it at first. I thought “yeah, yeah… another Kickstarter that the guys are getting overly excited about… Been there, done that… Only have enough room in my life for a certain number of games, don’t want to know about another…” Eventually, I gave in and watched a video. Then another. Then, I subscribed to the YouTube channel and decided that this game is going to be a keeper. Greek mythology never goes out of style – it’s outlived almost everything else! Having seen the dedication of… Read more »
How much more money? Typhon says another $399 lol
Well, I was contemplating another $100 of addons, until I realised that all of those things are in the $299 addon bundle…
What’s an extra $199 between gods? 😀
This game has a lot of potential in the organised play arena – I can totally see a Friday night MB thing emerge out of this.
I agree and I think it will be interesting to see what the player community does in terms of fan- created scenario and the campaign play aspect of the game. I think they approach the guys at Mythic Games have taken towards designing Mythic Battles lends itself to so many different play styles, not just in how people approach utilizing the various Gods, Monsters, Heroes and Troops but also in how the game can be played. I would not be surprised to see someone in the community create rules to play Mythic Battles as almost a rank and file miniatures… Read more »
I have looked at this long & hard and, whilst I do not normally play board games, I think this is excellent value and the Mythic team looks to have done an outstanding job on every level.
With all that being said I will not be backing it as it will be manufactured by William Yau of Dust infamy and I do not wish to see any more of my money knowingly head in his, and Paulo’s, direction.
Warren on Leo Live! Crossover!
lol 😉
I am all in on this one, it looked awesome from the start and just got better and better since.
all the figures are brilliant and insanely well detailed just wish I could afford to get on the KS for all this goodies.
If you think you be able to afford the $99 plus shipping by Feb then it might be worth dropping in a smaller pledge now to get access to the pledge manager.
*you may be able to afford
slim but never say never?
I’m in a real dilemma now…Do I drop Kingdom Death and go all in for the $399, or not?..
Shiny syndrome has really bitten this time. The fact that I have the Conan set might swing it. A lot of hard thinking in the next little while..
One thing to consider is the possibility of future mythologies being attractive and wishing you had gotten everything you could have from the first pantheon. I know I’m going all in as the value is just incredible. Not to mention in comparison to KDM Mythic Battles seems easier and less time to set up and get into playing.
Yeah, Kingdom Death is overrated, and ugly.
not cool
I’m interested to hear that someone is considering dropping KDM for this – as someone who has, on the odd occasion, thought about jumping on the behemoth that is KDM (but didn’t because Pantheon popped up just before it).
Obviously, I’m aware that KDM is… ahem… a complete monster, but Pantheon struck me as being a classier affair, with a lower entry price. I kind of wondered if KDM backers just regarded Pantheon as a puny “little” Greek god game and dismissed it because it wasn’t KDM.
i’m a kingdom death backer and for me it wasn’t a fan of the movement mechanics but the PVC minis was the main reason I didn’t back.
it does look like a fantastic game though and I think your money is well spent
I totally get the attraction of the game.
Thanks to all who commented, it was appreciated. I’ve decided to drop Kingdom Death and concentrate on Pantheon for several reasons:
1. My 9 year old son is more likely to join in- not something I would consider with Kingdom!
2. Perceived value for money – the amount of kit is amazing.
3. The additional supplements such as the rpm gives more scope than I believe Kingdom will give.
My son`s backed Mythic Battles using my account, and i must say he`s doing great for his first Kick Starter. The one thing he could not believe, is the amount of stuff he`ll be getting.
Here`s to this being the first of many for him.
The value of this one feels even better than Conan (even though by mini count it actually is about the same), there are just so many brilliant individual sculpts being included as Stretch Goals. For a $100 it’s like you get a whole slate of three or four expansions to go with the game from the Stretch Goals. And the “easy miniature war game” rules of it seem very nice. It doesn’t look like it’ll get funded to the level of Conan (it’s hard to compete with the visceral appeal of Conan the Barbarian!) but I bet a lot of… Read more »
I’m wondering if MB:P will reach 2,5m before it ends. It’s already insane but I wonder if it can go weirder 😀
It did! Yay!
Uh, gods, I’m finally in now.
It’s good they brought us so many quite nice minis with a lot of the last goals. Seeing the likes of Orion really hurts the heart. But with many designs, primarily of the gods (i.e. the godesses especially) and some beasts, they show where they do shine. And radiantly so.
3 hours to go before the madness that has been MB:P stops. I urge people just to go look, the mini’s are incredible ( you can’t really call a lot of them ” mini’s ” ) and judge for yourself.
I confidently predict that in future there will be two types of people in the world: those who backed this KS and those who regret not backing it. If you have any interest at all in mini-gaming or boardgaming then you’ll find Mythic Battles to your liking. Heck, just pledge a $1 now and join us and Leo as we count down the campaign. Leo alone is worth the price the admission.
That’s true. 😀
The Mythic Battles:Pantheon Kickstarter has just a little over an hour left, if you have not done so I highly recommend hoping over there and choosing a God pledge for yourself or perhaps as a Christmas gift for next year for a friend you know that enjoys Greek mythology, or painting nicely detailed minis. Don’t miss out.
@Warren — anyway you can get the MB team back on a weekend video episode and do a post Kickstarter Interview and possibly get to see a table full of mini’s and talk about next steps? Future games? (They already gave us a hint 🙂 )
It would be really cool if you could get the guys back on for a post-mortem.
After they’ve recovered from their post-celebration hangovers, obviously.
