WizKids has been dropping more details on what to expect out of their X-Men-themed Marvel board game coming next year. Marvel: Age Of Heroes will have you taking on the role of the X-Men tackling all sorts of foes.

Each player will take control of a duo of X-Men who are sent out to take down villains and complete various objectives. During the turn, players will collect resources and power-ups before having to tackle all sorts of foes. You'll be trying to make it so that your team of mutant heroes is better than your friends! Each team comes with asymmetric abilities and such plus there are a range of scenarios and scoring options opening up the replay value.

Player heroes (The X-Men) are represented by colourful standees and feature the likes of Wolverine, Jubilee, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Forge, Storm and more. Whilst I get why they've used the HeroClix-style renders on the standees, I sort of wish they'd used the artwork versions from the box art instead.

As well as your two core heroes, you will also be looking to pick up additional X-Men characters from a shared market that work with the style of game you're going to be attempting. It certainly sounds like there is a bunch of depth to what they are proposing when it comes to the customisation options. That should mean there is no "one way" to achieve a victory which I've never liked in a board game.
Marvel: Age Of Heroes features the X-Men so it's certainly got my attention. I will be intrigued to get a look at the rules and more as we come closer to the release in 2023.
What do you make of Age Of Heroes?
