Fight Battles For The Old World In Warhammer: Diskwars
August 15, 2013 by brennon
So Fantasy Flight Games are still in control of the Warhammer license and that has meant we've got this new game, Warhammer: Diskwars. What do you make of it?
Diskwar is a system that already exists and has now been adapted for use in the Warhammer world. It uses small discs (who would have thunk it?) in an almost wargame style format.
When your discs land on top of another then you can pin it in place and start a battle with it. Other discs don't need to do that and can shoot from range with magic and archery.
It all looks like an interesting concept and it might be quite fun but something about it all looks a bit cheesy. I'm a big fan of Warhammer: Invasion and I think that accurately portrays the Old World without the needs for this game.
If anyone has played other Diskwar games let me know what you think.

Weird… a system designed to approximate wargaming seems like a weird one to marry with a theme that’s taken from an actual wargame. Feels a bit like Virtual Virtual Skeeball…
Battlelore: Warhammer needs to happen. Not Diskwars lol.
There’s two markets for this. Those for whom a Warhammer-branded product is all the reason they need to buy, and those for whom proper wargames have too many barriers to entry. As proper wargamers, the appeal will be lost on most of us.
Sorry to say it FFG but this is a crap product.
Interesting idea for fighting fantasy battles…will probably not get much looks from miniatures gamers, especially those already collecting Warhammer minis.
I think this could have potential, depends on what FFG have planned for expansions, I understand this won’t follow the blind-buy model of the original Diskwars game. I’ll wait to see more in future previews before I commit.
I thought Tyrion was a dwarf not an elf?
Battlelore: Warhammer and maybe even Runewars: Warhammer would be interesting.
Disks flipping end over end is just too bizarre for me.
Give the Disks movement values and use a tape measure. 😛
