Descent: Legends Of The Dark from Fantasy Flight Games expands in the near future with the second act of this epic quest. The Betrayer's War was showcased at the end of March, inviting you back to the world of Terrinoth.

The Betrayer's War // Descent: Legends Of The Dark

In this new expansion, the heroes from the first game, Brynn, Chance, Galaden, Kehli, Syrus and Vaerix must struggle to save the kingdom and Terrinoth as a whole from an evil that threatens to destroy everything in its path. You'll find new abilities for your characters, new foes to fight and of course, a brand new story to dive into.

Interestingly, the folks at Fantasy Flight Games decided to continue the story of the heroes from the first game rather than introduce us to a new roster of characters. Each of them is going to be getting a serious upgrade in terms of the arms, armour and abilities and in a way, I think it will be fun to see these same characters continue their story. It lends the game a much more epic feel as they start to come up against bigger and badder enemies throughout their adventures.

As well as the new ways for heroes to kick ass and take names, the enemies they will be facing are equally as brutal. The Dragonlord Levirax is battling Waiqar’s armies and the numerous hordes of Uthuk are also on the warpath. There are plenty of BIG new foes for your heroes to test themselves against.

I'm sure we'll learn more about The Betrayer's War in the run-up to the game's release in August but so far, it seems like a good step in the right direction. Legends Of The Dark seems to have gone down quite well, bringing together new mechanics, new ideas for building "dungeons" and making good use of a digital app. I am eager to see where this expansion goes.

Will you be having a closer look at The Betrayer's War?
