Fantasy Flight Games Brings Back The Samurai

Fantasy Flight Games is bringing back a popular European style tile placement game, Samurai. In this game you play one of four daimyo who are completing to rule Japan.

Through strategic placement of tiles your hope is to win over smaller lords and increase rice production and gain the confidence and loyalty of the population. You will also have to influence the local religious leaders in your quest to become the ruler of Japan. Fantasy Flight Games is updating the pieces and artwork, but keeping the mechanics of the game that has made it popular.

In the game you and the other players compete for different caste by placing coordinating tiles around the caste. The player who has a greater number of resources surrounding the caste would win. Once they win all the caste in that region, you win that region. The player who posses the most regions will be declared the winner.

You do get to just Samurai, Ronin and other fighting resources in your attempt to win a challenge.

This looks like a pretty good distraction from the daily regime when you want to involve friends and family who are not miniatures wargamers. Of course this will have the same high quality of other Fantasy Flight Games.
