There's a tiny Princess is in peril, and it is up to you to help! Fans of the title Mice and Mystics will be happy to know of the upcoming board game from by the mind of Jerry Hawthorne that is heading to the tabletop.

Familiar Tales published by Plaid Hat Games focuses on a narrative-driven story, as players cooperate and deck-build their way through a fantasy kingdom, full of magic, the forces of good and evil, a teeny tiny damsel in distress and some mighty (and whimsical, I might add) heroes.

The board game places 1-4 players in an adventure where they must save, and place themselves as a personal shield to the Princess. And wait for it… all doing so as incredibly trustworthy Wizard’s Familiars.

These four familiars will come in the shape of Blaze the fearsome fox, Chalk the endearing Stone Golem, Flicker the innocent Fairy and Gibbert the whimsical Frog - once human - who crossed the wrong witch!

Players must survive the onslaught of evil that wish to see the Princess dead. She’s only a baby, and these heroes must help mould the woman that is destined to sit on the throne of the magical kingdom.

So, not only are players entrusted to keep the Princess safe, but they are entrusted with the responsibility of moulding and equipping her with the right tools and lessons to eventually rule.

The board itself takes players as their familiar miniatures through a large storybook page-by-page. As players make their way through the twists and turns of the story, by decisions made by the party.

Character Deck Building // Familiar Tales

Deck-building is a crucial aspect of guiding and progressing through the game. With a chance to collect different items to form new armour and weapons to wield. These cards allow players to perform certain actions to progress through the storyline!

To complete the game, players must return the Princess home to her worldly comforts of royalty, from the hands of the familiars and into rulership.

To help players keep immersed in the story, there will be a companion app available to download too. Including a digital rule book, a plethora of music, narration and decision-making support.
