Explore The Dark Side of Mos Eisley In FFG’s Imperial Assault
June 26, 2015 by stvitusdancern
Everyone knows Obi-Wan Kenobi's famous line...
“Mos Eisley spaceport. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious.”
With the new expansion for Imperial Assault, Twin Shadows you are able to transport yourself to that most famous hangout of the likes of Jabba the Hutt and Han Solo Mos Eisley on Tatooine. Speaking of Han Solo he has disappeared some where on Tatooine on a "routine" intelligence gathering mission (you know its bad when they use the word routine).
This time we explore the Empire's new troops for this expansion, the Heavy Stormtrooper and the ever infamous Tusken Raider.
The heavily armed stormtroopers are up armoured and carry some really big guns, while their movement factors are reduced due to the weight of their gear, these troopers pack a mean punch. Because of their advanced training they get an accuracy bonus for targets down range.
On the defensive side, they have composite armour and this gives the Imperial player an added layer of protection as you attempt to maneuver your troopers closer to the enemy. It also grants you added health and surge abilities to cause even more damage. So maybe these Stormtroopers will actually be able to hit something.
With the Tusken Raiders, which you use as mercenaries to create all kinds of mayhem and havoc to the rebel troops searching for Han Solo on Tatooine. The Raiders are very good in melee combat and can cleave the opponent. Or better yet they can cause the new Weakened condition, if a figure is weakened its surges and evades are reduced until the end of its activation.
So even the more powerful characters can be brought to a more manageable level to fight and take out. As good as Tusken Raiders are at close range they are still a formidable enemy at longer ranges as they have their trusty Cycler rifles.
There are also new leadership cards to help command your legions of troopers with the new class deck, Inspiring Leadership. You can improve morale, recover damage or even make a Noble Sacrifice and not let the death of a leader go in vain, but add some bonuses to other troops as they are inspired by their heroic leader.
So you know how Jabba the Hutt had put out a bounty for Han Solo and he had all the bounty hunters after him to collect the rewards? There is a card for the Empire called the Death Mark, which enable mercanaries to caused bonus damage to the marked character in the hopes of bringing him down.
We all love Star Wars and 2015 is looking to be the year of Star Wars and this game has been a great start, what do you think?
Have you tried Imperial Assault yet?

I think that I wish I was a kid again. I would have loved to grow up during this miniature gaming ‘golden age’ of the 21st century. The Imperial Assault minis are amazing. FFG have done the Star Wars universe justice and their games in this universe are super fun. Good times. 🙂
looking forward to getting this
pre-ordered!!
