Masters Of The Universe Battleground expands once more from the folks at Archon Studio with Wave 4 now available to snag from their webstore! More evil villains come to the lands of Eternia with The Power Of The Evil Horde.
The Power Of The Evil Horde // Masters Of The Universe Battleground
Trapped away in an extra-dimensional prison, Hordak has been granted his freedom by way of teaching a young alchemist his dark arts. Fuelled by vengeance, Hordak has returned to Eternia with the aim of doing away with those dastardly heroes before they can ruin more of his plans.

The set features miniatures for Hordak himself alongside a whole host of his minions. You get two Horde Wraiths alongside a pair of Horde Troopers. Making up the extra characters, you've also got the villainous Grizzlor alongside the Shadow Weaver and Catra.

All of the miniatures are looking fantastic and it's nice to see that how the proper retro vibes have followed through into all of the miniatures that we're seeing from Archon. I think they have nailed Hordak in particular and his band of minions are going to be fun to see painted up as well. Make sure to break out all of the lovely poppy colours for this range!
As well as the miniatures, this set also comes with some new terrain elements and all of the rules and gubbins that you need for playing with The Power Of The Evil Horde on the tabletop. I think He-Man and his companions have their work cut out here!
Wanting to be extra awesome, Hordak also gets himself another set as he mounts up on the back of a Mantisaur.
Hordak On Mantisaur // Masters Of The Universe Battleground
This is an online and tradeshow exclusive miniature that you can throw into the mix with full rules for Masters Of The Universe Battleground. Mosquitor was able to tame this beast and now it serves as Hordak's mount as he leads the Evil Horde into battle.

I am supremely aware of how insanely dumb some of the miniatures from Masters Of The Universe must look to a lot of folks but I think that gives them a certain charm. You can see the toy factor of all of these characters but I think it makes the miniatures all the more intriguing to paint. It would be especially good if you could end up matching the miniature to the artwork on the box cover!
All of these miniatures are up on the Archon store right now but as a reminder, they are only available to buy for selected European countries.
What do you make of this next wave of releases?

A Horde set without Kyle?
Those look really good.
Am I alone in being kinda hopeful that once they’ve worked through MOTU that Archon might bring in versions of the characters from other iterations of the franchise? The New Adventures, the 20XX series, She-Ra & The Princesses of Power, MOTU Revelations and that all-cgi He-Man show from Netflix, there’s a lot of scope for them to expand further….
I am so enjoying painting the masters of the universe models.
The box is an insta buy. Just thinking if I will order from Archon direct. It’s way more expensive and the only reason to do so would be the mantisaur model.
It seems a bit less iconic than Battlecat and Panthor, but I do have those models.
It would complete teh collection….

Fabulous looking figures from a bygone era.
