Games Workshop has shown off the first of their announcements at GAMA this week. The first is that we're now going to be seeing Elites dropping into Kill Team.

Elites Kill Team - Warhammer 40,000.jpg

This new addition to the rules throws some special operatives into the mix for your games. Terminators, Crisis Battlesuits, Striking Scorpions. Adeptus Custodes, every faction is going to be getting an additional bit of a buff with the inclusion of Elites into the mix.

Now, I think regular readers will probably already know my thoughts on this. Kill Team, for me at least, has always been about the little guy, the average joe, getting stuck into ragtag missions. Commanders, Elites and the like joining the fray (for me at least) feels like it runs against the spirit of the game.

Obviously, this is great news for lots of people playing the game and I do hope you enjoy what this offers to the play experience. Maybe I'm just being a stick in the mud but it's an interesting direction for the game to be taking. Is it a case of 'this is cool' or is it 'we need to keep them buying things'?

At any rate, two new boxed Kill Teams are also on the way with Elite options. Check them out...

Here we have Toofrippa's Krew and The Fractal blades. Each of these will no doubt come with all the bells and whistles you'd expect from a Kill Team squad but with some added flavour to boot.

More is on the horizon for Kill Team so watch this space.

Kal Jerico Returns

The man, the myth, the legend, the gunslinger, the sly vagabond...ok, we'll stop that now. Kal Jerico is coming to join the world of Necromunda with a sterling new miniature.

Kal Jericho & Scabbs - Necromunda

Kal Jerico will be introduced into the mix alongside Scabbs, ready to get embroiled in all of the seedy goings-on within the Underhive. Kal Jerico is actually one of the reasons why I got interested in Warhammer 40,000 in the first place. I saw some of his artwork and the old miniature and was immediately won over by this cool looking gunslinger.

Alas, I never had the original model but I might find a place for the new Kal Jerico on my painting table.

Pint-Sized Players

Adding to the Blood Bowl fun, the Halflings are joining the fray.

Blood Bowl Halflings - Games Workshop

This new set of miniatures is coming out alongside a bunch of additional Halfling options and accessories and I love them already. Halflings are, without a shadow of a doubt, the WORST team in Blood Bowl but they do create some funny moments during play. I can't wait to see their Treemen.

Also, a special thumbs up to the little woodland critters included with this set. The squirrel pitching a nut at someone is amazing.

What do you make of these new GAMA announcements?
