I cant wait to be able to pick this up. Its well priced and mantic always delivers!
It looks nice – it’s not quite Warhammer Quest though. I’d like to see Mantic provide some more ‘roleplay’ type rules, with conversion rules to turn them into heroes for Kings. That would be sweet.
Whilst the fantasy theme might make you think “Warhammer Quest”, it’s actually more like Space Hulk but Dwarfy. Dwarf Hulk, if you will.
love the cover art, skeletons and the art design of the tiles, the rules seem ok…the problems are the box is very flimsy cheap, tiles very thin and the dwarves are ok rather than stellar- needing green stuff to finish off, plus wheres the square bases?? guess ill be using my £5 for a set. Only had one game but rules seem pretty good but I feel it needs more scenarios- DM skills may come in handy. A good start which i hope gets built on, also its reasonably good value, having bought Claustrophobia at same time for same price… Read more »
little bit of colour and some army painter dip….those skellies are good to go. Wish they released the ivory skeletons in regular boxes….would useful if you had hundreds to paint.
I bought this after seeing the previous BoW video and I love this game. The rules are very simple but it allows for very tactical and varied gameplay. So far we’ve just been playing scenario 1 and 2 over and over again, each time trying to come up with better tactics to beat each other. Content of the box is great as well. I actually think the quality of the tiles is fine, they don’t feel flimsy to me at all. It’s great that the skeletons come in white plastic. Although I’m sure I will paint them at some stage,… Read more »
I understood that the Ivory sprues were for pre orders only.
All the sprues are from their normal ranges – the smaller ‘hero’ sprue is actually the skelly artillery crew.
It looks pretty cheep when you see it but I love the game, it plays really well.
The more I look at the Mantic dwarfs, the more they grow on me. Very dwarf-y.
No idea about the game but sorry, its a poor review. Half the shots were off camera or moving the subject about, so never got to see it all and no count-up as to what you actually get which leaves me trying to count and guess how many models you get. Might be ok for those who have the models, but not for the casual onlooker like me.
I saw the three ups at Salute. The game looked fun, but the thing that held me back was 2 player only. Not sure if thats put anyone else off.
Is it me or does this seem very weighted to the Skeletons favour? It looked like it was near impossible to win if you are Dwarves.
I have plkayed alot of DKH as I managed to bag a preorder copy and it came through alot earlier than expected. It does exceptionally well and is a balanced game whether playing dwarfs or undead. I put up a review at the end of March (I think!) so have a read and see what you think. It might give you some sort of idea whats in the box! I love the game and our gaming club members are big fans as well.
