This is going to be a great game. My biggest concern was replayability, so hopefully you guys will get a feel for that and be able to report back.

I can’t find the copy of the rules I had at the moment, but I was under the impression that the necro won if he went to draw a card and couldn’t. Not as soon as there are no more cards to draw. Regardless, fun game and you can really see zombies (especially armoured) being a nightmare to get past.
I agree. I think the heroes won. Delay just let him draw the last card, but until he tries to draw and cannot, the heroes still have time.
Unless they lose when the last card is drawn. Which honestly would be a really bad rule since you’d never be able to use that last card.
Did not play any dungeon delving games growing up. Tried but did not manage to get into Descent. Hopefully this is the one to get me. 🙂

When my DS KS stuff arrives, I think I might mix in some of my old warhammer quest stuff ( extra tiles, monsters, magnificent arched doorways). I might even try to modify the WQ rpg rules, equipment & spells!

I agree with shanonimous, the overlord should not have won, he win if he has to draw a card and there is none left. The text of the card just explain the rule. You don’t win if there is no card AFTER you use the card but if you have non when you play the card.
Seems that way to me too, also kinda makes more sense since that last card drawn would do nothing if you don’t have one more turn to go through. We’ll see once my KS haul gets here 😀
It really has gathered all the great dungeon crawl game elements together and added a few new twists. Can see this developing, with mantic background and range, in the way previous games never really did.
Great episode to a great weekend. I can’t wait to see how this ties into kings of war. This weekend has sold me on this game so perhaps I should take the plunge into both worlds

Great game and I have one improvement. At some point, rethink the connecting clips for the tiles. Watching, they seem to come loose very often and barely seem to do the job. I think a strong method was “Warhammer Quest’s” doors-as-clips system.
Perhaps they are too costly for the main box? If so, I’d be very happy to buy a set of such door/clips if Mantic made them as a separate premium or ‘Legendary’ addition.

Hm… Adventure 1 seams to be really tough. But its nice to see that the overlord does have a chance to beat the adventurers. So he is playing the game and not just enabling the game for the others…
Time to get the full gang in combo… but will Warbarian and Worceror go running ahead like a couple of giggly kids in a playground?

Another great video nice to see how the game plays once beyond the introduction scenarios which I think you’d probably play both on your first play. I really think Mantic has wound the clock back and we are getting to see the evolution of a gaming company like GW back in the day, don’t ever put the Accountants in charge!
I’ve gone from being a cynical ex gamer into someone loving their hobby again and thats down to two things. Firstly 5e D&D which just feels so dam sexy after the clunk fest of 4e and so streamlined ( and rule lawyer free) compared to the behemoth Pathfinder has become. Secondly everything Mantic, Dead Zone love it, Kings of War Love It and now Dungeon Saga… love to see them create a space hulk equivalent they have form in this space already.
Muahahahahaaaa the evil overlord strikes the final blow! Fun watching the pressure build 🙂

Nice run through and yes I would like to see a dungeon delving block from BOW on another note that was typical wizard behaviour lurking around the back and keeping out of the way until there’s a treasure chest than you have to beat them of with a stick before they get the grubby hands on everything.

Hah, close call. I like the timed aspect, since that’s one of the reasons Heroquest no longer works with my group. They just take their time sweeping room to room and clear anything before the bad guy can act.
Looks great. But not convinced with the legs. Would probably place on non slip matting.
Starting the heroes out with a split party is a nasty disadvantage. 😉

This isn’t negative about the game, as it looks like fun; But people keep talking like there haven’t been dungeon crawlers for some time. What separates this game from the numerous other dungeon crawler games over the last few years, like Shadows of Brimstone, Descent, D&D board games, Imperial Assault, The Undercity, etc?

The more I see of this game the more I want to play it. It’s all about timing & this time the timing was right spot on. Plans are only good till the first encounter & then after that panic sets in. Hopefully Justin has calmed down. Well played all.

The piles of bones rules: two hits on a skeleton reducing to bones, free attacks on bones rising next to you, and the ability to stand on bone piles to prevent raising – all gives a slightly whack-a-mole feel to the gameplay.

I know it is too late but I now know what is behind the door and it is pretty.
This was so funny to watch, love the way justin realy gets his nerve half way the game, The tension is so good to read of his face ( justin never play poker dude, because you gonne lose, lol). Realy hope to win this prize because do not have the money to buy it.
I really like how the overlord is an active player in this. Unlike Heroquest where you are limited to the quest. The overlord can make a direct impact on the game play. This is a win win for how I like to play. Well done Mantic

This is weekend is Awesome with a capitol Awe-yeah. I’m totally into this game. Great TV, and it’s so enthralling to see the complete enthusiasm that the Bow participants have for this game. Would be great to see something mid week if possible of just playing a game. Great to watch. Doesn’t have to be every week, just now and again. I need it, as I have no friends to play with.
Dungeon saga looks so good , one of mantics best games IMO the minis look great and the play through videos look even better reminds me so much of Heroquest and like the line of the back of the box saying “Hero, your quest starts here!” Hahaha
time seems pretty tight. I would guess for newer players you could give them an extra card of time just to ease it a bit. That was an amazing game. Couple really bad dice rolls hurt them.

I really thought that the heroes had this one. I looked nasty with the zombies but they got through. Is there any reason for the Overlord to NOT play a card every turn? Unless the cards just aren’t applicable to the current situation? The “Delay” card is a brilliant one but I think I’d play that one earlier on because then you’ve got another card to choose from and the heroes have one less turn.
Is it me or do the clips look like they really aren’t holding the dungeon together as well as they should be? I could see things slipping around all over the place.

lol hats off to Rich there. Having played the Overlord character in many a dungeon, pulling off that sneaky game winning move that is half genius and half trolling, is one of the best parts about playing the evil character.
You do feel bad afterwards though! After the heroes have done so well to get so far, yet all the while you can end it. Great game boys

That was truly an evil stunt at the end. I think being Overlord could be a lot of fun. This looks a lot better than being the GM in most systems.
They say the proof is in the pudding! Well in this case the fact thats I’ve re-watched every video from the Dungeon Saga weekend for no other reason then I really enjoyed them proves the point. Well I don’t have Dungeon Saga (Yet) but its raining in Cornwall I have two children bored out of their mind and Descent calling from the book case! So I will get my dose of dungeon delving today.

It’s taken three days of intermittent Croatian holiday wifi to watch the first two but well worth it!!! Mission three LETS GO!
Looks really interesting and could be worth a purchase. Two points first the plastic clips that hold the tiles together seem a bit loose in the vid and because they raise the card sections off the table seem prone to causing the board to move, may be better if the game board was laid on some kind of mat. Second for vids like this might be worth using a dice tray for rolling as dice tend to bounce a lot on that table surface.

Wow, nobody saw that end coming.
In my opinion, from how the delay card was read out, it would only end the game if he played the card and there were no new cards to draw. Which would mean that the heroes would have 1 more turn and they would have won. But seeing as though I don’t actually know the rules, it may be different.
The pressure is on! The Overlord really is an active presence in the adventure, as opposed to only re-active. Much more interesting for that role and it clearly makes it easy for that player to make the role their own.

you two where having such a blast, such a great looking game that everyone can have fun, even the dungeon lord has a lot to do, wouldn’t know what to play the good guys or the fun bad guy.

The more of the videos I watch, the less sure I am about those clips. They sure do seem to be extra fidly at times. I like the idea of the extra modularity (is that a word?), I’m not sold on the clips as a solution to keep the pieces together.
A Dreadball Ultimate mat turned upside down might work as a surface to keep the tiles in place.
So looking forward to this now. Cant wait to get crafting my own devious dungeons for my friends to explore.

This looks brilliant! Hopefully everything WHQ should have been (Loved WHQ but the RPG/leveling mechanics they tried to add just plain didn’t work) keeping everything crossed & holding out on the slim chance of winning the comp but failing that will be pre-ordering the Legendary edition for sure!
I wonder if actually the heroes would have lost even without that card. It looked like the door had crept forward so that it looked as if it occupied the back row of squares in the far room, when (I presume) it should really be on the edge of the tile. So I don’t think the wizard could have reached it in time to play his first ‘break ward’ spell.

Never played any Dungeon Crawler before. This looks like a must get however. Quality stuff from Mantic yet again.
You can tell how good the game is by justin noticably getting slightly stressed during some of their dungeon crawls, coming from the guy with little dungeon crawling experience shows the emmersiveness of the game.
Although warren is impervious to stress as the barbarian whips off the loin cloth to show the birthday suit of calmness (+1 modifier to all stress tests)
It is so good to see Warren’s excitement 🙂

The last time I did dungeon crawling is about 20 years ago? I never had a copy of Hero Quest. We played with a friends game and when he moved away we stopped playing. God knows why nobady got another copy. Maybe it was already out fo sale and ebay not invented yet.
With this kickstarter I fell like turning back time.

Unlucky result. Justin was of course right in that they should have waited to the start of the round before opening the door, so they could have rushed in. Having seen a few games now the dice mechanic seems a little bit clunky and slows thing down a bit (ordering the dice and reading off pairs). I’m also not a great fan of the time limit being so tight as it almost entirely dictates how to play the adventure. The fights should just be hard enough that the heroes could lose by dieing if they are not clever/a bit lucky rather than because they’ve run out of time…what does that even mean in the context of the dungeon?
Thanks for the demo, I like the fact that there is a timer effect, it adds another level to the whole game.
