Dune: Imperium – Uprising Expands On Dire Wolf’s Board Game Epic

Dire Wolf has announced a new standalone expansion to their Dune: Imperium series. Uprising is coming this year and builds on the deck building and worker placement of the previous entry in the series.

In Dune: Imperium - Uprising, you once again have to blend together military might and political intrigue. You'll be controlling spies that are able to make sure your plans come to fruition and use contracts to expand your resource base, fuelling your war efforts. You could also go down the route of supporting the Fremen and ride their mighty sandworms into battle. I like that idea.
As well as that, you've also got the new six-player mode which will pit two teams against each other. I do like the sound of that, working as a team to see if you can dominate the universe of Dune.
The original game went down very well (see original game components below) and was an intriguing way to dive into Dune, set apart from the massive strategy experience that people know from the likes of Gale Force Nine.

All of the backstabbing, intrigue and plotting is still there in spades and it will be interesting seeing the six player team mode in action in particular. If you've played Dune: Imperium then you'll come into Uprising with a good knowledge of what to expect. The twist comes in a few of the tweaks and updates here and there that allow for a more in-depth experience.
Marrying up nicely to the release of the second part of the new Dune series, I could see this being another popular pick up for fans.

Can we stop flogging a Dead horse, Terminator, Dune, Star wars and Aliens has been over and over and over done since we knew that something circular rolls down a hill. Something original people who make games please.
nothing will beat the original Dune game ( from Avalon Hill, re released by GF9 ) but do like the RPG just for the content and background. I think the IP is just used to make it familiar to us, if you took out the dune aspect, probably still a good game but with alot less appeal. Its a business.
