Deep Rock Galactic: The Board Game is a fully cooperative action board game where you take on the role of specialist Dwarf miners. You will dig deep into asteroids and planets in search of rare minerals like gold, nitra and morkite. The alien bugs that inhabit these worlds aren't happy with the idea of sharing though and the Glyphids are going to be hunting you every step of the way.

Fancy learning how the game works? You can check out a full play session of the board game below.

At its core, the game is a dice-chucking affair where you will use the special abilities of your Dwarves to mine materials and fight alien bugs. You will explore hex-based caves and scout out rare minerals whilst also working out how best to hold off the Glyphid foes that stalk you through the shadows.

As you dive deeper and deeper, the game becomes more and more intense. You'll have to keep an eye on your supplies and how far you want to push yourself in the pursuit of gold and more. It seems like a pretty faithful recreation of the video game on the tabletop.

When it comes to tinkering around, you have a fair few bits and pieces for you to get stuck into as a hobbyist as part of this Kickstarter...

...however, you don't actually need to pledge for all that plastic if you don't want to.

Deep Rock Galactic Pledge Options

For example, you can just pledge for the Standard Edition of the game that comes with plastic miniatures for the Dwarf mining team. Beyond that, your alien foes are represented as cardboard standees. This might be worth taking a peek at for those who just can't bear more plastic in their collection!

If you want to go all-in, as the content image showed above, you can go Deluxe if you prefer. At it's core, the Deluxe Edition of the game turns the Glyphids from cardboard standees into plastic miniatures.

Beyond that, most of the other components are the same. There are also plenty of Stretch Goals in the mix for those who back either pledge but you can also get expansion content too if you want even more Deep Rock Galactic in your life.

As I mentioned at the beginning of this piece, there isn't long left on this campaign. So, if you want to dive into Deep Rock Galactic you will want to get your boots on, britches up and head on over to the Kickstarter page.

Are you tempted to give this a go?
