Fight Out Custer’s Last Stand With Worthington Games’ New Kickstarter
January 11, 2019 by brennon
Worthington Games is now on Kickstarter with Custer's Last Stand which allows you to play out the two big battles, the Battle of the Little Bighorn and the Battle of Rosebud Creek.
In true old school style, this is a game with hex and counter gameplay which will no doubt make lots of people very happy indeed. Whilst the game obviously suits being played by two people going up against each other, you can also enjoy the game as a solitaire experience too.
The main focus of the game is the Battle of the Little Bighorn which everyone knows about, but the prelude to that, Rosebud Creek, is just as important and stopped valuable reinforcements from getting to Custer leading to his eventual demise.
In the game, you can either take control of the 7th Cavalry under Custer and Crook...
...or the Sioux Warriors led by Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull who are chasing him down.
Whilst each of the battles can be played out individually you can also find rules within the box for playing Custer's Last Stand with additional reinforcements from Crook that might turn the tide of victory and change the way history remembers this battle.
There's no doubt that Custer was foolhardy and in many ways his defeat gave him the glory he was so eager to take. However, it would be fascinating to see how things would have played out had things been done with more planning and thought.
The game itself is looking like a nice, plush affair with some well-printed unit pieces, detailed map boards and good player aids too.
If you like your old school gaming this might be worth a look...

Thought this was a reprint of the old Waddingons game for a min.
May be good to see if you can survive as Custer.
I am sold! One of my favorite subjects. I lived at Ft. Riley in Kansas where Custer’s 7th Cavalry was from.
