People quite often become confused by my smiley demeanour, ask why I tend to smile all the time. Or why I am so happy. The secret to it is board games. I am a zen human being, and I spend every Sunday with my head buried in tranquil board games to keep my feet grounded. Especially when they are wrapped in fluffy socks.

Mandala Stones // Board&Dice

Mandala is a sacred practice, founded and engaged by Tibetan monks and practised across a wide variety of different cultures. Now Mandala has made its zen way over to the board game genre, with the upcoming release of Mandala Stones by Board&Dice.

In Mandala Stones, players will be required to arrange their stones to create a masterpiece of artwork containing peace and serenity with the opponents. Notice how I say, opponents? Players may need to create the artwork together, however they will be working at their own pace competitively, aspiring to become the winner of the game.

Racking up victory points is your way to success, as players must be manipulative in their steps. They must attempt to influence other players into creating the image you want in your mind. By placing stones on the mainboard and creating towers to score victory points.

The game is played in rounds, and each player will take a turn flowing clockwise to each player having their turn to place a stone.

The box includes nine different player boards, a scoreboard to keep track, the main game mandala board, ninety-six stones, and many a component to keep safely inside the cotton bag provided.

The game is designed for 2-4 players and can take roughly half an hour to play through a full game with all rounds included.

Mandala Stones is set to be released next month, June 2021. This is going to be on my June board game haul, being added to my Sunday zen list for sure.

What is your favourite relaxing game to play with your family?
